- "ReconServer"
- Version reviewed: ReconServer 1.14.27
In spite of a thorough Help file, this monitoring program isn't for the inexperienced user. ReconServer has three main components that log keystrokes, grab screenshots, and create an audio alert when preset or user-set key words are entered. The interface is all business, and while it looks professionally designed, it's strictly utilitarian.
There's a menu to access all functions, including setting options, hiding and exiting the program. Unlike similar monitoring programs, ReconServer stores your data online. You'll need to be continuously connected to the Internet to view the keystroke and image logs. The keystroke log is easy to read, but the additional information included with the image logs will make sense only to the advanced user. You'll also set your watch words online and set up e-mail delivery of reports. The online guide for adding watch words is particularly helpful and gives you examples that will help you get exactly the results you want from the program.
ReconServer isn't designed for the novice user, but it will give an administrator or experienced user a complete picture of PC activity.
