From Simon & Schuster Inc.:

Real War: Rogue States extends the hit game Real War, which blends the ease of a real-time strategy game with units, weaponry, and scenarios currently utilized by the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff to train military personnel. Terrorist forces are threatening the free world, and the only power capable of stopping them is the U.S. Military. Choose your side, either the U.S. Military or the Terrorist Independent Liberation Army (ILA), marshal your forces, and make real war against your enemy, in the only RTS game where you are in command of today's military forces. All jets, ships, and ground vehicles are taken directly from today's military--with a few special items right off the Pentagon's drawing boards. Real War delivers a stunning one-two punch of 3D vehicles with their realistic movement against the backdrop of a richly detailed 2D world--with jungle, desert, arctic, and plains environments. Fight online against up to three other commanders in a variety of multiplayer scenarios. No base building, no resource gathering, just pure strategy and glorious combat.

  • Version reviewed: Real War: Rogue States demo
The attractive graphics and realistic sound effects in this real-time strategy sequel don't make up for the unfriendly interface and horrible AI. Real War: Rogue States is a sequel in the Real War series, in which the United States is locked in conflict with a large terrorist army. The majority of units on both sides act similarly, though the terrorists give their comments in Arabic. We like the combat models and the special effects, but got frustrated with the command interface, which consists of a mess of tiny buttons with strange pictures. You just can t tell what they mean. Issuing orders is hard, because the units are very small. But the game s AI is the worst part. Although you can toggle among formations and set units' behavior, they react unpredictably. Too often, your units won t respond to your orders and will just stand still while an enemy is in range. We didn't have much fun with this demo and don t expect many strategy fans will.
