RBackup Remote Backup is the premier Remote Backup and Restore system containing a full-featured Client and a powerful Server. RBackup replaces troublesome tape drives and forgetful computer users, operating unattended and automatically to regularly save important data securely off-site. A versatile scheduler launches the Client, usually at night when computers are not being used. It compresses and encrypts backup files using a choice of encryption methods and key lengths: DES, TDES-128, AES-128, AES-192, AES-256, or Blowfish (up to 448 bit key length.) RBackup then sends backup files off-site to the RBackup Server through the Internet, Intranet, or direct dial-up modems.

Summary
This is a great package. I'm very impressed with the tests and I'll buy it next week to set up an Online Backup Service myself. You can't do that with these other downloads.
I also downloaded a few of the other "Remote Backup" packages listed here and discovered that many of them are only offering online backup services using THIS VERY software. Thus the price differences listed. This price is for the complete Client/Server package that you can use to start an online backup service, while the others are really just montly fees for the USE of this very Client with some other online backup service. Why not just by THIS software and do it yourself?
THIS software is a complete Client/Server package, which these others have apparently bought and used to set up businesses. I'm not sure if these others should even be listed here at all, since they aren't selling software, rather, just a SERVICE (for a monthly fee) based on the real software, RBackup (this one.) -

This product has just saved my job. My laptop was stolen over the weekend with all my data on it, a day before a presentation to a new client. RBackup perfectly restored my files to a new computer over the Internet in under 20 minutes, right in the computer store, in time for my appointment. FANTASTIC product, GREAT support, stable and reliable. everyone should have this.

This software is by far the most user-friendly and reliable remote backup solution that I have tried. Reliability is a major factor in the industry, but so is competency. Rbackup is an easy solution for remote backups and a great way to go into business for yourself.

"Not reliable, buggy"

Summary
I spent significant time with this product, wasting countless hours. Performance was terrible, the product is quirky and buggy, and it's difficult to remove all traces of it when you've had enough. Reliability is EVERYTHING in this business -- after all, if you're not 100 percent sure your data is properly backed up and accessible when you need it, then the whole thing is a waste.

My computer consulting company decided to offer RBS services to our clients using the RBackup software. So far more than half of them have taken up our offer, and the software is running great, pretty-much unattended.
