For some reason I cannot install Freeram XP Pro so this was installed instead. Free, does the job and no real complaints.
Cons
A slightly smaller footprint would be better.

Doesn't matter if you don't know how to use a computer or if you're looking to tweak everything to top notch performance. Getting this tool is a must for those who use their PC as a serious work horse. If you run a lot of apps that eat a lot of memory, you've got to have a backup to reclaim that memory or get used to rebooting often.
Cons
I really like the number output. But it's useless for PC's with over a gig or two of RAM. I remember setting this up when I upgraded a PC to 2 gigs of ram and it only showed 400MB free. Didn't immediately hit me that it was trying to display 1400MB, but you get the idea.

My browser opened faster than it ever has, gave some of my programs a boost, small download file.
Cons
I had this minimized to my taskbar while connected to the internet, hoping to increase multi-tasking power. Since this program sucks up RAM while trying at the same time to free it up, it slows my browsing down considerably, causing lag and slow page loads. Don't use if you have a minimal amount of RAM installed to your computer or when you're connected to the internet.

RAM Defragment 2.6 XTreme is a stable, efficient application that is small in size and will use a small footprint of your resources. It also seems to be very stable and reliable on many platforms and hardware configurations. It does what it claims, and it does it well.
Cons
I am dropping a star off my review because this application is becoming dated. It has not seen an update to the application since February of 2003, making this version of RAM Defragment XTreme four years old.
I use a powerful computer at work, a Windows XP Machine running 3 Gigabytes of Memory. The one glaring limitation of RAM Defragment XTreme is that it seems to have a memory limitation of 2 Gigabytes. In other words, one third of the RAM in my workstation was not detected nor seen by Windows XP. And that happens to be where all of my applications are currently running. When I brought up the program interface, it correctly identified my swap file size and usage, but claimed that my RAM was 2 Gigabytes (instead of the correct 3), and that I was using ZERO KB of RAM.
If this application is updated to recognize systems with high amounts of RAM beyond 2 Gigabytes, I would give the application 5 stars.
