    "reccomend"

    Version: RAGE WebDesign 2.7

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
    I'd reccomend this app...

It doesnt do quite everything I'd want but its probably the best all-rounder out there, i don't personally use the web-site manager or many of the more complex tools webdeisgn offers as i code only by hand and upload with an ftp package.

But for anyone wanting to learn html i'd reccomend this app - the tutorials are excellent, so if your starting out go take a look at the rage site as you don't need to buy the app to use them.

There are other editors out there (freeware included) that are worth a look at Taco is good but lacks support for xhtml and i find TextWrangler a little bit too complex for my needs - all in all considering the low price of WebDesign and the fantastic support they offer i think its well worth it.

Sorry folks, but for 30 bucks you get not enough. BTW: Look at freeware TextWrangler or Taco HTML Edit to see what's missing.

    "Nonsense"

    Version: WebDesign 2.5

    Summary

I agree with Mojolive, but the fact that realy makes this piece of soft useless is that it is unable to create standard-conform HTML. They aparently never ever heard about W3C.
Just check their Help-files and you know what I mean. Absolutely garbage!

It is a cheek to cheat people with "fine websites after some clicks"-slogans and offering an app that is unable to ceate clean code.
The rest of us who know about HTML don't need crap like this, an editor, maybe with code coloring or tag-inserting, is fine enough. But the beginners rely on those programs ... and became sent up.

    "What a joke, WebDesign 2.5"

    June 03, 2004   |   By VersionTrackerUserOpinion

    Version: WebDesign 2.5

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Well I must say that it looks nice as I have been using it for the last 3 days . I found the biggest problem is that it always crashes using 10.3.2 After trying to save a doc. it just crashes. Another think that really gets me is the pop up window saying" is you buy this you will get bla, bla, bla then when quiting the program you get yet another BIG window "this is a web app to create Stunning webpages. (Do not know if it is just the unreg. version as I would never pay for an app that is prone to POP ups, TRYING TO GET YOU TO BUY SOMETHING . it is bad enough that when lauching the program in demo mode you get a BIG window tell you to buy the full version and what you will get if you buy the full version . then to quit the program give you yet another BIG window to close. And buy the way (On webpage it say award winning) Where are your awards I could find none .any way Heres what I say so far (after 3 days) crashes and ftp working sometimes and sometimes GET RID OF THOSE 2 POP UP WINDOWS IN THE DEMO MODE. Just to read your web page is enough. Be advised people that this might be one of those apps that could get better in time if the dev. was not so intent on using (this buy now buy now buy now, WAY OF SELLING IT. and would put more effort into really developing it. Pay attn. Dev. POP UPS DON'T HELP SELL ANYTHING.

    "Almost Bought It"

    June 03, 2004   |   By ibnabouna

    Version: WebDesign 2.5

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This looks like an excellent program for anyone managing a web site, especially if you like to code by hand.

But, the following gripes prevent me from purchasing it just yet:

    (1) The anti-aliasing in the code editor seems off. I can't tell if it is working or not, but everything seems too thin and fuzzy for me compared, for example, to Dreamweaver. The text has to be readable if one is going to spend hours working on code!

    (2) The FTP functionality didn't work with me. After entering my FTP username and password, I was able to browse files just fine, but when I tried to save them, the program told me that the FTP info was incorrect and prompted me to reenter my username and password. In sum, I cannot save any files to FTP. I toggled passive mode on and off, but that didn't seem to help. Both Transmit and Dreamweaver don't have a problem with the same FTP server and info I used in this program, consequently leading to my conclusion that it is a bug in the program itself.

Other than that, this program is wonderful and much needed for people who don't want to shell out hundreds of dollars for bloated Dreamweaver or even try the inconsistent Java JEdit.

I would like to see these problems fixed in the next release and OS 9 support abandoned; with 10.4 coming, it would be nice for the developer to focus on making a fast Cocoa app for OS X only that will put Dreamweaver to shame in speed and style.

Once the above-quoted problems are fixed, I shall buy happily.

"Impressive little app, try it for yourself"

    October 15, 2003   |   By dvsjr

    Version: WebDesign 2.3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I like this app a lot. If you peek at reviews, (who doesnt) but like to make up your own mind, try it out. I think this is a terrific program for someone looking to get better at coding html, css and web design in general. I like how it is sort of a half wysiwyg application. It really would be great for people who want to learn web coding, to place a graphic, you click the picture button, drag it to your page, answer some questions, and voila, the proper tags appear. Super way to see coding taking place, It doesnt hide anything. Even has website management. Some reviewers compare it to BBEdit, I disagree with that. BBEdit is 10 times the cost (webdesign is $29!) and is much easier to use and user friendly than BBEdit, a different app altogether.
It runs great on my powerbook, which is running 10.2.8
