This utility is one of the most functional recovery solutions available, though its interface, which is not intended for beginners, takes some time to figure out. We think it's worth the effort. R-Studio Data Recovery can resurrect files even from deleted or formatted NTFS, FAT, and Linux Ext2FS partitions, as well as from software volume sets and disk arrays. It can look for particular file types (for instance DOC), and to save time, scan a particular region of the disk. If your system crashes, you can use rescue disks to boot the computer and restore the files. To prepare for that, R-Studio lets you create a disk image and restore files from it. Network capabilities allow system administrators to recover files on any computer accessible over the network from their own computers. Be aware, however, the demo only allows you to undelete and restore files less than 64K in size. If you're inclined to buy, the complete package is a comprehensive recovery solution suitable for businesses, while the light versions are affordable for advanced home users. Beginners, however, will wish for a wizard interface and a clearer tutorial.

"Great data recovery product at a great price"

November 27, 2008  |  By andyatwyetec

 |  Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.5

Pros

Easy to use, quick to downlaod, smooth purchase process, great price....and just worked!

Cons

I haven't got anything bad to say at all

Summary

This product got me out of a total disaster situation when nothing else seemed to work. I had a disk that Windows woulnt even allocate a drive letter to. JStudio just opened up and all the files were suddenly visible. An hour later my data was 97%
It may not get every dead disk back to life, but it sure worked for me - I was so happy.... When you bought it the code was delivered in an instant, and you could register while the product was running.... My disk was half of a mirror (other disk dead) dynamic dive off a Win2003 server. I attached it to a Vista Ultimate PC and was away. Professional qualiy product with a slick interface. Love it...

"99,9 % recovered - The best Data Recovery Software ever"

November 01, 2008  |  By DrabantIT

 |  Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.5

Pros

This program is splendid.
Easy to install it and then runs smooth. Scanning a defective RAID 1 with 2 disks of 500Gb's was easy. And the result was splendid.

Cons

No cons really. The only minor thing should be that I really missed a feature counting out all files of zero bytes. But then again, it's aminor thing.

Summary

I lost my entire RAID 1 - consisting of 2 disks og 500Gb each.
With R-Studio Data Recovery 4.5 I was able to recover all important files and even more. Even my exchange store was fully recovered.
It took about 1 hour to scan the entire 457 Gb RAID and after that recovering files where as easy as...
Only thing I missed was a feature to count out all zero byte files, but thats a minor thing.
I had an excellent experience with this program and will hereby gladly recommend it.

"The *Best* Data Recovery Program out there!"

September 15, 2008  |  By aSiriusTHoTH

 |  Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.5

Pros

I first downloaded the demo, to make sure it even worked. I purchased $500.00 worth of data recovery software, and NONE of them worked. So I was glad to try the demo. To my amazement it worked@

Cons

I honestly cannot think of any cons. The installation was a breeze, registering the program was easy. It even detected the hdd, in an unrecognizable format (so said Linux and Windows).

Summary

Simply put... after trying out 15 other programs and costing me over $500.00, this program is hands down the best.

The pictures I was able to recover, to me, are priceless. And to only spend $50.00 for this program, was the single best $50.00 I have ever spent in my life. If you have lost files, deleted pictures that you think are gone forever... spend the $50.00 and recover them. You will be amazed.. I was!

"Do not work as in other data recovery software"

September 02, 2008  |  By Dan fro Silicon Valley

 |  Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.5

Pros

easy to install

Cons

you'll be lucky if you recover few files which are needed. forget about running the disk scan on disk bigger than 500gb. it will never finish scanning and always stuck.

Summary

software recovery may work only if you are to recover few simple files. what is being recovered is purely by random. even with the simple files % of files being recovered is very low. it will never recover dynamic volumes or entire disk structures. it will not retain the directory structure. do NOT waste time and money on SOFTWARE data recovery tool such as this.

"Rarely works effectively - Avoid."

August 07, 2008  |  By sharenetgroup

 |  Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.5

Pros

Its advertising is very comforting.

Cons

I've attempted to use this software in both actual emergencies and also just for testing purposes in controlled experiments. It has rarely worked in an effective manner. Any useful data that you would hope to recover is nearly always corrupted and unrecoverable in a meaningful sense. I'm not a tech lightweight so it's not a question of RTFM here. It's just not a useful piece of software for the market they're targeting. And certainly not worth its considerable pricetag. Quite a disappointment.

"Worked as expected"

July 22, 2008  |  By aptravisceron

 |  Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.5

Pros

I was preparing to set up my hard drives in a Raid 0 configuration. I moved all the data I wanted to my external hard drive, so it would be safe. Then I set up Raid 0 configuration. After I set up the Raid 0, I started to install windows again, since setting up the Raid 0 makes that data useless on the two hard drives. I have installed windows several times in the past, so I was hurrying along through the installation. I got to the part where I had to pick the partition to use for windows. Well my new Raid 0 configuration was the same size as my external drive, that I left plugged in for some reason. Without even thinking I deleted the first partition on the list assuming it was the RAID 0 configuration. Oops! I really felt dumb having installed windows several times before. Moral of the story is disconnect the drive with all the important data to prevent doing what I did. Anyways I left the partition deleted as is.

I went through about 6 other programs before trying this one. Only one of the programs I tried worked for what I was trying do, it charged per MB recovery. Ouch! I wanted to restore about 200GB of data. I didn't really think that was cost effective, since it would have been several thousands of dollars. I could get it done cheaper by taking it to a professional. The free programs I tried either only recovered certain file types, or never made any progress scanning my hard disk. I let one run for about 20 hrs, nothing! A few wouldn't recognize/access my hard drive.

I tested this guy out and it scanned the disk just fine it took a little under 6 hours to scan a 320GB drive. There is actually a progress graph, so I could see what it was doing. I found all my files in the exact same folder structure that I had left them in. There were a few extra folders such as system volume info and recycle and a couple others. It also showed all the extra found files on the drive. I am assuming they were defrag files since they were all fragments of files. All of the features are available on the demo except the restore feature. The restore feature is actually available on the demo, but it will only restore any file under 64KB. If the file you are looking for is under 64KB you can do it for free on this program.

I purchased the key for the program and it was given to be immediately after processing my credit card. No need to wait for an email. I did receive the email with the key a few seconds later, so I guess I didn't save that much time. The program was able to restore all file types even the ones that weren't on its lengthy list of recognized files. It took about 5 hours to restore the 200GB of lost data to my new RAID 0 configuration. All file attributes and meta data were restored with the files. If you select restore from Root it will restore all the files you selected to restore in their same folder structure. Except for the fact they were in a folder called root. All the files kept their same file name. I was happy to see that. I didn't want to have to rename any or get a program to rename multiple files.

Cons

Too bad it wasn't free. Oh well. The thing I didn't like was the messages for any conflicts when restoring files. If you selected "do this for all files" it would do what ever you selected for any message that popped up. Regardless of what it was saying. It didn't actually cause a problem since since all it didn't end up restoring was Vista thumbnails or duplicate files. There is a log at the bottom of the GUI showing pretty much everything you want to know. It seemed like a lot of errors but it was mostly just thumbnail files not being restored. No biggie since windows is set up to generate those thumbnails.
