Publisher's Description
From R-tools Technology:
R-Studio is a comprehensive data recovery and undelete program renowned for its ability to recover mission-critical data lost to viruses, malicious attacks, and hardware failures or operating system crashes. It supports FAT/NTFS (Windows), HFS/HFS+ (Mac), UFS1/UFS2 & Ext2FS/3FS file systems and functions on local and network disks, even if partitions are formatted, damaged or deleted. New additional file recovery algorithm increases the quality of file recovery and recovers files not recognized in file system metadata. Dynamic disk and RAID are supported as well as recovering encrypted files, compressed files and alternative data streams. Files and file systems structures (NTFS/FAT boot sectors, MFT file record, MBR, LDM structures, etc) can be viewed and edited in the professional disk hex editor. Extended Viewer Plugin allows viewing a content of the found files to estimate recovery chances prior to purchasing. Flexible parameter settings give you absolute control over data recovery. Version 4.2 supports various unusual RAID configurations. Parameters like block size and order, offsets, and even the number of stripe blocks can be explicitly specified. Visual editor to create specific block order.

"Horrible , Terrible , Simply the worst."
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.2
Pros
It was cheaper than the software I eventually had to buy because this software failed.
Cons
ILinux recovery is slow, and dose not work. It renames the files you are trying to find which makes recovery problematic in the best case, impossible in the worst.
Summary
Linux recovery does not work. Buy something else if you need linux files.

"Excellent Program"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.2
Pros
Best scan engine out of any other windows based recovery software
Inexpensive
Fast
Offers many configuration options guaranteeing the highest rate of recoveryCons
Options can be overwhelming for those who don't know what they are doing
Summary
Here is a nightmare situation for any system admin: a power outage crashes 2 out of 3 drives in a raid 5 configuration. To make matters worst, the raid controller also went bad and there is no backup.
If you know anything about raid arrays, you know that you are pretty much done for. Heck, even if all your drives are working and your controller craps out, your chances of recovery are very slim.
I tried a couple of other recovery programs but none could do an adequate job as I kept getting the BSD at every attempt to scan.
I was contemplating jumping off a bridge but I decided I'd give R-Studio a try. It was a pain in the a** to manually configure the parameters of the array and create a virtual set but once I figured it out, the recovery process went smoothly. I was truly impressed.
No other software is as flexible as R-Studio. Configuration options can be overwhelming even for the seasoned system admin but that is precisely what makes this software so powerful. My recommandation for the makers of this software would be to dumb it down some and offer preconfigured options or create some type of wizard to help users that are not too technical. As it stands now though, this software is definitely a must have in the tool box of any system admin -
"Worked perfectly, recovered all my data from a failed RAID0 array"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.2
Pros
This software saved my bacon for having sloppy backup on my home system. I had a RAID0 array that failed, somehow getting some bad sectors. Windows couldn't even recognize the drive, let alone get properties or read any files.
Cons
Users complaining about the UI, probably dont like that it's basically ANSI text. It's an emergency bood cd so the program is basically it's own OS. Not a problem for a seasoned system admin.

"Worth every penny of its cost. Easy to use and works."
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.2
Pros
This program is worth every penny. Saved me the $600.00 at a HD recovery specialist. Able to recover and restore all the important data I desperately needed. The program is able to acess the HD and scan to recover your drive.

"Terrible! Take a pass on this software."
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.2
Cons
I downloaded the trial version. When I ran it, the software found the files I wanted to recover, so I bought the program so that I could run the recover portion of the software. When I ran it, the software locked up (I have 4 gig of RAM). I contacted the vendor who told me to download the latest build and that should solve the problem. I ran a scan in the latest build, and now when I try to restore it tells me I first need to run a scan. I contacted the vendor again and after many days and several more emails from me they finally responded by telling me to download the latest build (apparently their answer for all problems). Since I already had the latest build and realized that their support sucked, I requested a refund. Their only response was to send a link to their return policy which basically says that they don't accept returns because they have a free trial. That doesn't help much if you can't trial the most crucial part of the system, the restore, and it doesn't function properly. Do not buy this software.

"ok, but not amazing"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.2
Pros
Once I figured out the very complicated interface, this app seems to recover data pretty well. Fast.
Cons
Interface needs work and feels like a DOS program. Get with the times!

"Succeeded where others failed"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.2
Pros
First of all .. this software succeeded in recovering data that three other programs failed to do.
As for ease of use, I did not find it difficult to use and I have a well developed allergy to reading user manuals. Strongly recommended .. even if you need to read the help file!!

"Software worth its money"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.2
Pros
I could recover an important word-file with r-studio software. Before using r-studio I tried another recoverysoftware but couldn?t find what I was looking for. With r-studio I was successfull in 10 minutes. The reason i think was, that r-studio also showed me the files with the attribute: hidden.
It is easy to handle and works fine!
