QuickTime allows you to play high-quality video directly on your computer. QuickTime is a set of components that, when used with movie software, let you view video clips or even full-length video productions. This install includes QuickTime 3.0, which lets you create, edit, and play video, animation, sound, sprites, text, music, 3D and still images in documents, and CD-ROM titles; the QuickTime Plug-in, which allows Internet browsers to use QuickTime to view video, sound, and animation on the Internet; QuickTime VR, which allows you to explore interactive photo-realistic environments and objects; QuickDraw 3D, which brings 3D capabilities to QuickTime; the Sound Manager, which provides low level support for play back and recording of digital audio for QuickTime; and MoviePlayer, which allows you to play back and edit almost any kind of digital media file. Version 3.0b11 includes new compression technology for video and sound, including Sorenson Video, Qualcomm PureVoice, QDesign Music Codec, and Microsoft Video Decompressor (for further compatibility with AVI files).
