This unusual 3D platformer stunned us with its comic 3D models, well- staged conversations, and superb special effects. The brainchild of Tim Schafer, creator of the classic LucasArts adventures Full Throttle and Grim Fandango, Psychonauts starts with a long cutscene set in a camp where kids are trained to become secret agents called psychonauts, who specialize in psychic attacks. You control a boy named Raz, who, in the demo, travels through the mind of a mad general. You run, jump, swing, and walk on ropes, collect various items, and solve puzzles. In that respect, Psychonauts reminds us of Tomb Raider, except you can talk to any NPC in the game and listen in on countless conversations. The graphics are astounding, with facial animations that approach animated-movie quality. The controls are intuitive and customizable. We also like the game's original interface, with lovely menus that look like sheets of paper. In conclusion, Psychonauts is one of the best games we've ever played. Don't miss this underappreciated gem.Publisher's description
From Majesco Games :Embark on a unique third person psychic adventure through the minds of misfits, monsters and madmen...
For years, the Psychonauts have deployed their psychically-armed operatives all over the world, but this time trouble is brewing in their own boot camp. A deranged scientist is abducting camp cadets for their brains. One student, a mysterious and powerful new arrival named Raz, stands alone against the lunatic. Raz must develop and unleash an arsenal of paranormal powers including his most powerful weapon of all the ability to launch himself telepathically into the minds of others. Ultimately he must enter the psyche of his worst enemy and destroy his dark plans at their source while trying not to lose his sanity in the process.
In this demo you play as the Psychonaut-in-training Raz, who is just beginning his stay at Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp. Explore the campgrounds and meet your fellow eclectic campers before you journey into Coach Oleander's mental battlefield to test your Psycho-wits and abilities.
Version 1.02 includes two settings that have been added to improve mouse behavior. The user may now disable smart camera hints that direct the camera towards specific targets; and the user may now disable camera altitude dampening, which will make the mouse more responsive in pitching the camera

Version: Psychonauts 1.02
"Waste of many download hours"
Pros: Can't like anything if it doesn't run. Would give it ZERO stars if I could.
Cons: Used its own downloader, resumable, but gave no indication of download progress.
After many hours, even at about 45KBS, it indicated I had to download an extra file. The file never downloaded and now I have about 2GB of garbage on my HD since the program won't install.
