Many programs claim to have a professional pedigree, but Privacy Eraser Pro mostly delivers on the promise. Its main function is to clean all possible traces from Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox, and AOL. You also can delete your usage history from many locations within Windows, such as the Start menu and the Recycle Bin. The list of supported third-party applications is huge, ranging from common applications, such as ICQ, to more arcane ones, such as AudioCatalyst. The ability to add programs to this list is a definite plus, although you'll need to know which Registry keys and folders a certain application adds to your system. You will find a file shredder that supports even government security standards. The built-in scheduler for automatically cleaning your PC at specified times or regular intervals rounds out the feature set. This application makes a fine all-in-one privacy suite, especially for more savvy users.Publisher's description

It can quickly erase your cache, cookies, history, visited URLs, typed URLs, autocomplete form data, index.dat files, the swap file, and temp folders. The cookie-cleaning feature allows you to specify which cookies to keep, so you don't erase your important login cookies. Privacy Eraser Pro supports free plug-ins that extend cleaning features that support popular programs such as ACDSee, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, Kazaa, and ICQ. The application's additional features include a secure file shredder and scheduled cleanups. Privacy Eraser Pro completely implements the U.S. Department of Defense DoD 5220.22-M and NSA clearing and sanitizing standard.

Version: Privacy Eraser Pro 6.0
"I like the schedule but too thorough for FF 3!"
Pros: I like the interface and the fact that you can set it to clean every hour or so in the background (not found with East-tec).
Cons: The plugin builder could be more user friendly. All of the new history cleaners clean out the bookmarks along with the history for FF 3, so that isn't a fault of the program. However when I downgraded to Firefox 2 it cleaned out the bookmarks of that program also! The 5.96 version didn't do that so I say stick with that or if you must use FF 3 wait until the all the cleaning software gets smarter!

"Nice program but in vista , it takes more then one!"
Pros: This is a solid, safe history cleaner. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Double check the settings you choose twice to make sure they hold. It's cleaning & scheduler work as described, just a little slower then some others I've tried.
Cons: To expensive! Doesn't get it all on Vista. You need Tracks eraser pro to if you use "Windows Live messenger". It does run in Vista even though it doesn't claim to.
Summary: Good but you will need two history cleaners if you run Vista. In XP, I like Tracks Eraser pro better as it's the only one needed there.

Pros: It is great to see how Privacy Eraser Pro deletes all incriminating evidence automatically every five minutes while I'm surfing the Net. It's the best personal protection I have ever purchased for my computer. You have made such a good product that I'm happy to recommend it to my fellow web surfers.

"Excellent Program!! Easy for First Time Users"
Pros: I was recommended this software from a friend and am very pleased with the results I have had. I too have recommended this product the $39.95 is nothing when I think about how it has increased the stability of my machine.

Version: Privacy Eraser Pro 6.0
Pros: good interface, good control, effective free space and cookie wiping
Cons: it doesn't wipe the index.dat files completely. try it yourself and have a look - you can open them with notepad; the unwiped stuff is near the end of the file. also a 'clean and reboot' doesn't wipe free space. better than some though!
