Prevx offers to clean up your computer by tracking down harmful viruses, spyware, and more. While the program looked to be a winner, it was impossible to know because of its substantial trial limitations.
Prevx impressed us immediately with its professional interface, which features a small collection of commands. We never visited the Help file because navigation felt intuitive at every step of the way. We successfully scanned our computer for corruptions with a single button. When the scan finished, Prevx listed each issue, where and what it was--we found only spyware--and the level of threat it posed. Another aspect we enjoyed was its pop-up feature, which opens a small warning window when something questionable is on the verge of being downloaded or viewed. We were pleased with the ease and readability of Prevx--until we tried to rid our computer of the offenses it identified. We were then told we'd need to purchase a license to clean up our infections, and therefore we can't say how quickly or effectively it did this duty. We appreciated its layout and scanning, but we were unable to get the full picture of its effectiveness.
Prevx claims to offer free detection and adware/MBR rootkit removal during its trial period. We can't confirm this since we only encountered spyware. While Prevx looked great and started off even better, we can't recommend it since we're not sure how well it does what it claims to do, which is clean computers.

Version: Prevx 3.0.1.65
Pros: blocks rougue security programs and other malicious programs.
Cons: None so far.
Summary: I have been using prevx for about 3 months and have had zero false positives. Prevx has blocked all the rogue security programs I have tried to download(I repair infected computers as a hobby). I even disabled active protection and tried to run a ... read more >>

Version: Prevx 3.0.1.65
"Software Wouldn't Work - Company Won't Refund Money"
Pros: No pros. Their customer service department required me to log onto their site and use the password "Tinkers4Swine" which reflects their attitude about customer complaints.
Cons: I purchased Prevx 3.0 because Prevx specifically claimed online that it could remove a particular virus (Rizaluzo.dll.) It didn't. I paid by credit card and the program was completely useless.
Prevx, flatly refused to give me a refund.Summary: DO NOT BUY this software! (And DO NOT BELIEVE any positive reviews about this company! It wouldn't surprise me if they came directly out of their marketing department.)

Version: Prevx 3.0.1.65
Pros: Is it really a valid review of a product to weigh so heavily the limited features do to it being a trial version? I'm sure most publishers would be willing to extend a temporary license for reviewers.
Cons: If it had reported malware that wasn't actually there because it was a trial version trying to sell you, that'd be another matter.

Version: Prevx 3.0.1.65
Pros: An anti-virus that protects your PC.
Cons: I made a software (it's real) that is already an installer. I tested the archive of the installer with VirusTotal. Prevx detected the archive as a high-risk worm. But it was harmless by the other antiviruses, including Kaspersky and Avira AntiVir!
Summary: This is a good one, but they should fix their detection rate, because some safe stuff can be detected as a virus. This might be a false-alarm, so fix it good!
