"Trial would not run - clicked on Try Now and it shutdown"

    November 29, 2007   |   By clangevin2000

    Version: PowerRenamer 3.0

    Pros

    Appears to have useful features

    Cons

The trial installed fine, but when I ran it and clicked 'Try Now' it immediately shut down. Everytime I tried it used up another of the 30 free uses. XP Home

    "Doesn't fix mp3 tags correctly"

    April 04, 2005   |   By jimbof36

    Version: PowerRenamer 3.0

    Pros

Nice interface, easy to use, probably good for renaming files other than mp3s

    Cons

When trying to change mp3 tags, it somehow reads hidden mp3 tags and only changes those, rather than the primary tags that iTunes and Windows Media Player display. So it's useless to me.

    "Workers Unite!"

    November 29, 2004

    Version: PowerRenamer 3.0

    Summary

This is the beginning of the denial of customer service by corporations. The product worked until it decided I had changed computers enough. It is on the original computer. Another company did this too with their media player. Avoid the software that you buy that does this. There is a free renamer that I can't get started since it is e-mail ware. It seems better than this taunt ware that denies service.

"Nice product except all the extra security features"

    October 30, 2004

    Version: PowerRenamer 3.0

    Summary

This is the first product that frustrated me enough to submit an opinion. This is also the first product that every time I start it, it makes me feel like a thief.

I tried it out and had a decent user experience. Yeah it uses .NET runtime which is a pain to download to get this to install and run but this also causes this to run someone slower. If you have a faster machine then probably won't be noticable. Even with those "issues" I went ahead and bought it. That is when I felt like a crook.

I installed the program and then "registered" it online. It has to check with a server and god only knows what it sends to it. Then there are times if it hasn't been used for a certain amount of time and is started it will check the clock and ask you if it is correct or not (again assuming you are messing with the clock to get past the 30 days - EVEN though I paid and registered for it). Then there came a point when it was no longer registered. I would try to register but then I would get a server error from the server it uses to authenticate.

I contacted customer support and was told to uninstall and reinstall. I did so and keep getting errors and frustration.

Now I'm just going to uninstall it and use another product that doesn't treat it's users as criminals or use .Net

    "Some Serious Problems"

    January 12, 2004   |   By AlbertW

    Version: PowerRenamer 3.0

    Summary

Contains bugs that cause the program to think you've already installed and tried it on your computer when you haven't. Then it will delete files without your permission. Might not happen for you, but it did for me so be careful.
