Its wide range of formats and functions help PowerArchiver compete in a category dominated by WinZip. The archive utility supports a large number of compression formats, including the new 7-Zip format, which offers extremely high compression ratios. You also can encrypt your archives using one of five secure algorithms. The program works swiftly and reliably. The configuration menu lets you customize almost every feature, including a password manager for encrypted archives, a self-extracting wizard, and an autobackup tool. The batch ZIP tool compresses hundreds of files in one shot, and the multi-extract tool unpacks hundreds of archives at once. The program now supports unlimited-size ZIP archives. Anyone who needs to work with archive files will find PowerArchiver a versatile, affordable alternative.Publisher's description

Version: PowerArchiver 9.26
Pros: Loaded with features, including 7z file creation.
Cons: Lacks RAR file creation ability. Forces two extra steps in archiving process unless you allow shell integration.

Version: PowerArchiver 9.26
Pros: Simple interface, easy to understand, simply works. For an "archive utility" i can only recommend it. It is worth the 20$.
Cons: start-up speed could be improved a little for big archive files.

Version: PowerArchiver 9.26
Pros: This sw is great, it does what it says.

u can customize it at many aspects
fast
Cons: u cant make .rar with this one (but u have .7z which smaller than .rar)
the .7z is bigger than .7z made by 7ZIP sw

"RIP from the original winzip"
Pros: many ext. support (cab, 7zip, zip, etc), takes the winzip source code(reverse engeneering) beyond winzip lack of capabilities.
Cons: first they start "freeware" to kick winzip away, then they start with "shareware", still winrar is best, small, and fast, this is a mammoth with 2MB+ size.
also if you do test over 100 archives(select an test the 100+ archives) it crashes, even on compressing many files at the time.
and don't tell about the computer I use, or the os, or else.
