At its essence, PhotoPlus is a Photoshop clone without the most advanced features, for a fraction of the price. The interface is almost identical, from the tool icons to the layers pane. PhotoPlus allows working with several layers and supports masks, but you can't add new toolbars. Using layers, you can create and edit animations for the Web, and a number of filters are here. The set of tools is not as large as Photoshop's, but it's enough for retouching photos. Web designers will appreciate the tool that allows you to immediately view how JPEG compression will impact image quality. The trial version disables some of the tools and filters. In our opinion, PhotoPlus will be more than enough for home users and intermediate Web designers.Publisher's description
From Serif :PhotoPlus has the features you'll need for importing or creating pictures and animations as well as for manipulating colors and effects and final exporting. Built-in support for TWAIN scanners and cameras makes it easy to bring in your own photos, while comprehensive import filters let you open just about any standard bitmap image. Once you have your image in PhotoPlus, you can enhance and alter its onscreen appearance with a diverse toolkit of functions and effects. A full range of export options (with special attention to Web graphics), plus powerful optimization capabilities, round out this high-performing package.

Version: PhotoPlus 6.03
Pros: For the times I need something with more powerful editing features than FastStone, this is fine. Can be expanded with PhotoShop plugins, many of which are free. Seems stable and reliable, and works well, with useful floating toolbars and all the useful features you'd expect.
Cons: Rather dated interface, but perfectly functional. Registration process a little frustrating - long wait for email with key - but this is fairly professional software for free, so that's acceptable.

"A cheap alternative to PhotoShop."
Pros: Seems to do what all the competitors do, but to me, they are not too good either.
Cons: Like PhotoShop, this is rather awkward to use & the only reason I've given it a 5-star rating is because of its price.

Version: PhotoPlus 6.03
Pros: 1. It is not that powerful, but you can add your plugins. There're a lot of free plugins for paintshop and photoshop, many of them can be applied to this one.
2. It should be powerful at the time it released, and till now it is not bad.
3. Many other freewares from same company. Drawplus is a real good vector image editor. Photoplus also has relatively strong shape tools, at least better than psp 7.
If you don't want to spend money on photoshop or paintshop pro..., this is among the choices for you.
Cons: Seems big. Compared to new version (freeware) of paintstar (~2M, no need for the .net framework or gtk), this one doesn't do more
The startup will bring up an ugly dialog box.
You will found its interface is not well designed in many places.
It is not convinient to use the result made by drawplus.

"A good free PhotoShop replacement."
Pros: PhotoPlus is the poorman's replacement of PhotoShop.
Nice interface, placement and controls.
Cons: Freezes for about 10 seconds after cropping, resizing, or flipping an image.

Version: PhotoPlus 6.03
Pros: enhanced photo editing software over MS paint. essential feature include layer support, standard tools for image editing, and few of advanced feature to take care of the basics. and its free of cost!!!
Cons: i just don't get why people give it 5 star.
the program isn't easy to use with it plain clumsy and outdated interface, and the advanced editing feature people talk about?nada, it may be enough few years ago, but now its just average or even sub-average, a heavily strippled down, outdated, cheesy editon of photoshop(even the photoshop version 1 beats this). if you want somethings really powerful and stand up to photoshop, get gimp. if you want something really easy to use but comes with decent feature to do all the standard editing task, get paint.net. both of the program has better feature than photoplus.
