Though some online spots will be off-limits, this online-privacy tool protects your personal data by blocking IP addresses. PeerGuardian easily monitors P2P activities on your PC with a virtually pain-free setup; however, it excludes help past the initial configuration. You'll simply click to select the type of blocks you want for your system, such as those for anti-P2P organizations, spyware and adware servers, government addresses, and ad trackers, in addition to user-specified addresses. As you surf, the program monitors and logs blocked IP addresses and you can go back through and quickly select any on the list you'd like to allow in the future with one click. PeerGuardian doesn't halt blocked sites from launching, although we found that some on the list manager refused to load. Nevertheless, this free program is a practical choice for protecting your personal data while surfing.Publisher's description

"absolutely essentil if you use p2p"
Pros: using P2P without PG2 is the same as swimming with sharks unprotected !!
it is very simple to use/understand..
it blocks anti p2p angences from seeing what you are downloading (it does NOT block your ip address)
it also blocks spyware and maleware..
the block list is MASSIVE >
when it is blocking an ip it flashes you can click on PG2 if you wish to allow the IP temp or for good..
you can also check out your ip history what it allowed and what it blocked..
block list updates are available every 2-3 days..
i used to use this just for P2P but as im not a safe surfer i use this all the time now ..
Cons: this blocks loads and loads of sites that are safe when you are using this for surfing the web..

"You need this if you plan on using P2P Filesharing networks"
Pros: Its free.
Its open-source.
It blocks undesirable P2P traffic, such as suspected federal agents, or, more importantly, spam inteded to flood networks with fake content.
Lets you sleep happy at night.
Works as a firewall in some respects.
Cons: Has a lot of false positives.
Blocks ALL University traffic...which in most respects is a bad thing since those are usually where the fastest downloads speeds come from.
Not good for use with general internet traffic...intended for use ONLY with P2P filesharing programs. Use with web browsing produces undesirable browsing results (it blocks a lot of safe servers associated with many safe and well-trafficed websites).

"Everyone who uses any type of P2P should use this"
Pros: Blocks TONNES of IPs from seeing what your doing on P2P networks, so this will you "invisible" to governments, and people that shouldnt see what your doing :P ( like the RIAA, and other copyright protection companies )
Cons: Conflicts with my FireFox, so I now only use this when on P2P networks

"I support the project but PG2 is so buggy."
Pros: An incredibly comprehensive blocklist for P2P, Spyware, Ads and Educational IP addresses. With the default lists it now blocks well over 1 billion addresses which simply shouldn't be talking to your PC for any legitimate purpose.
Cons: As much as I support the project (and have been using PG2 for many years) it's just so buggy. You get errors with the number of IPs blocked, 0 IPs blocked, lists not being available, having to recover PG, not blocking when it should be, the list goes on.
