"Free version does not work"

Pros
None at all - couldn't make it work.
Cons
Many. Most important, it does not work, produces system errors in XP, pops up a message that you have to buy the "real" version to do anything.

It failed to convert a PDF 1.6 file to individual images. Documentation and dialog boxes are written in broken English. Required a reboot after installation, and prompted me to close Microsoft Excel before I could run the conversion program.
Summary
This isn't the worst freeware I've ever tried, but it needs some significant help. Why should a utility like this require a reboot after installation (I run Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit)? Why should it require that I close Microsoft Excel before I can run it? The application apparently has a dependency on Microsoft Office, but I am not certain what it is. The confusing broken English in the dialog boxes and limited help documentation round out the feel of an application that I would rather avoid.
More to the point, it would not convert my PDF 1.6 file to TIF or PNG, and prompted me to enter the password to the PDF file (it has none). It also prompted me to upgrade to the paid version of the software to get additional functionality, but I was very unimpressed with the functionality that I saw.

There is no conversion to text (no matter what it says) unless you want to "finsh the conversion" by upgrading.
Summary
I really wish cnet.com would not list programs a s free just because the downloads are free. If you have to pay to use them effectively, they're NOT free.

The images were too big. Apparently you can pay for an upgrade which has a size setting.
