As a browser password storage program, Password Commander Pro has all the bells and whistles, but some users may rebel against its attempt to plug into their browser.

The simple, flexible, skinnable interface has buttons for major functions alongside a tree-like interface for selecting saved passwords. The utility can grab passwords as you enter them in your favorite browser. (It supports all major browsers and some on the horizon.) Password Commander automatically fills in forms you've stored. These typical functions work, but they won't wow you.

We did, however, like some of the new functions. The utility can be set to open only on PCs equipped with biometric devices. It can install on a USB drive for portability. Anyone sharing a PC can set separate accounts for each system user.

We wished it didn't need to install a plug-in to our browser. We wanted the autofill capability, but did not want the program to store, or attempt to store, passwords. We canceled the plug-in, but were forced to settle for a limited tool. Still, users looking for a password manager with autofill functionality will find that this application, which comes with a 21-day trial, fits the bill.
