Engrossing puzzle play makes Passage 3 Christmas Edition worth your time. Essentially, it breaks out the Clear mode from the full version of Passage 3, then dresses it up with Christmas images and music. As with the original game, each tile you place must match all of its neighbors in color (red, yellow, blue, orange, green, and purple) or picture. You start with 30 credits, losing some each time you place a tile incorrectly or discard a usable tile. The aim of this version is to remove designated tiles by filling up an entire row or column to form passages. The game ends after 45 minutes, but you can play as many games as you wish. The settings don't let you adjust the volume of the music and audio, which meant we had to turn off the MIDI carols instead of just turning down the volume. Other than that, Passage 3 Christmas Edition serves as an enjoyable stand-alone game, as well as a tempting free sample of the full game.Publisher's Description

This is the Christmas version of the game Passage 3, a game styled after dominoes, Tetris, solitaire, and Scrabble. The player places the tiles on the board according to a certain pattern. Tiles played must match the neighboring tiles in color or symbol. Version 2.6 features accelerated display routines for many systems; completely new Internet access routines for high-score upload and download; and significantly lower CPU load during the game when using Windows XP to avoid heat problems on very fast PCs.

"Love This Game!"

Pros
I first got the Passage 3 game some years ago for my Windows XP system. I tend to play the Christmas Edition every few days. The graphics are great, and the music keeps you in the Holiday spirit! I was SO happy to find it works on Windows 7 too. My grandchildren love the game, and want to play it when they visit. I haven't had any problems at all with it loading, etc.
Cons
None through several years of using it on two Windows platforms (XP and Windows 7). I just hope it works with whatever Windows version that Microsoft comes up with next!
Summary
Great game! Good selection of music, and I like that you can wipe out your scores and start again if you really want to. I play this one more than any other computer game and don't really get tired of it. It's habit-forming, LOL.

to get the Christmas edition I had to load the passage three, then went to the websight and downloaded the extra tiles lots of different tiles to macth on the extra downloads. thank you very much. love the game.

Pros
Requires quick & logical thinking. Somewhat Tetris-like because you eliminate tiles by matching them. Kunig said there were only 6 OR 7 levels in free version. I've been past 35 levels before time runs out at 45 min. Paid version has no time limit.
Cons
Game did not come with instructions so it takes a while to figure out how to play the game, ie you must eliminate all of the original tiles to go to the next level.
Summary
I never get tired of this game. Every game is different and it is possible to improve your previous score.

Very good addictive game. Starts off fairly easy then has varying difficulty levels as you progress. Sound is decent and not at all annoying. Gotta love the Publishers Description where they compare it to Scrabble, not in any way!
Cons
Lots of luck at higher levels, sometimes all the connections are mismatched and sometimes almost all require a single color to join. Not really fair, so it make high scores pointless. Some high levels require luck of multiple wild card tiles.
Summary
Great free game, worth playing. But as you get better you'll get frustrated with the level design. Too much luck is needed in colors of original level setup, the color of the tiles that appear as you use them, and the appearance of wild tiles. Actually, bad luck makes nearly impossible levels (after you've played 30 minutes into a game, that can be very frustrating). Prefer earning wild tiles. I play a few times a year.
