CNET Editors' review
MiniTool's Partition Wizard Home Edition is a free disk utility that adds powerful partition management capabilities to both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows installations. It can create, delete, resize, format, copy, convert, and hide partitions; change drive letters; convert dynamic disks back to basic disks; and perform critical tests and maintenance duties. It supports most disk types, including removable storage devices like flash drives and memory cards.
Partition Wizard's interface resembles recent Windows editions, with a familiar blue-toned navigation pane and color-delineated bar graphs for each disk partition. It opened with a detailed display of our system's disks and partition information, including a flash drive in a USB port. We opted to test Partition Wizard on the flash drive since there's no lack of tools for managing hard-drive partitions, but they don't always handle removable drives so well. We ran our little flash drive through its paces, gaining quick familiarity with this powerful but easy-to-use software. We like the Operations Pending window, which collects all selected procedures, awaiting your Apply or Undo command. Another nice touch is a Wizard file menu for quickly accessing the program's wizard-based copy and recovery tools. We clicked Format Partition to reformat our flash drive's FAT partition as NTFS, and then clicked Apply to initiate the change, which called up a caution message about open applications. Clicking Surface Test called up a dialog with the familiar animated block map display, whereas the Wipe Partition control offers several levels of disk-wiping. Simple commands like labeling partitions or changing drive letters are handled by small pop-ups, and more-powerful tools, like Copy Partition, offer much greater levels of detail and control. You can also download a free bootable, burnable CD ISO image that lets you boot into Partition Wizard to manage partitions without limitations, including functions like merging partitions and rebuilding Master Boot Records.
Partition Wizard Home Edition is a great example of the sort of freeware that can both simplify and enhance Windows' capabilities. It's an all-in-one disk partition manager that earns our top recommendation.

"It repaired my boot sector"
Version: Partition Wizard Home Edition 5.2
Pros
A backup program ruined my boot sector, so that Windows could not start anymore. I tried a lot of rescue CDs, but without success. After hours of despair I found the partition wizard. In less than 5 min Windows showed up again. Easy, friendly, fast!
Cons
I did not encounter any cons.
Summary
This tool is a real wizard, doing magic. It rescued me from reinstalling the OS and this in no time. Great tool.

"Worked great for me"
Version: Partition Wizard Home Edition 5.2
Pros
Intuitive. Can't beat the price
Cons
You can't use the merge command with the home edition. Doesn't tie my shoelaces, either.
Hello?? IT"S FREE!Summary
Using a Windows 7 64x OS, I cloned my C: drive to be safe, then deleted a C:\ VM partition I had forgotten about, giving myself a considerable amount of extra space. That was my original intent. However, looking at the easily understandable display, I was able to locate and delete an area of unallocated space on another drive and created a NTFS partition to further increase my total HDD capacity.
Partition Wizard worked flawlessly for me. I really don't know how or what the one- and two-star reviewers ran into, but this was a champ. It will be a great utility for my future HDD maintenance. -

"If you liked Partition Magic, you'll love PW 5.2"
Version: Partition Wizard Home Edition 5.2
Pros
Very good interface, easy to understand and no fluff.
Cons
Takes forever to to wipe a hard-drive. Tech support for free edition is deathly slow to non-existent. IMHO a minor issue but still worth mentioning.
Summary
If you like to tweak your partitions or if you've ever wanted to try multi-booting (running more than one Operating System on the same computer) and you just don't like the partition editor that comes with windows, Partition Wizard is your best bet. It looks and feels like Partition Magic did and can see all of the latest partition types (including Linux Reiser, Ext2, Ext3 & Ext4) and can resize move and or delete them. It doesn't seem to care if your partitions are compressed in Windows and yes you can have different types of partitions on the same hard-drive. Best of all it's a graphical program not a scripting only program (there are some freebies out there that do all of this but you have to learn a scripting language to use them, NO THANKS!) and though you do need to be careful the program is very easy to understand. Practice on a hard not critical to running your computer first (an external USB or and old internal model, not your Main or C:\ drive.)
It's free and it works. Way cool. Great utility. -
"Did what windows default program wouldn't"
Version: Partition Wizard Home Edition 5.2

Cons

"A Wonderful Partitioning Tool"
Version: Partition Wizard Home Edition 5.2
Pros
Nice GUI, several different partitioning/file system options, does the job quickly and easily.
Cons
Some options are only for the paid version, but for the price (FREE) you can't really go wrong.
Summary
Partitioning is a great way to section off your hard drive, so that certain things can have their own place (OS and program files on C drive, music on F drive, pictures on G drive, etc). This tool can make that happen with minimal effort. Did a great job partitioning and changing the file system of a hard drive to Ext3, for the sake of housing Ubuntu.
