From Paraben:

Complete text-string searches for entire drives searching more than 230 file types as well as slack and unallocated space. Using search indexes shortens search times. Compressed indexes are 30 percent to 60 percent the size of the original data. The new Index wizard makes creating indexes a snap. The program supports complex search queries through Boolean expressions. It also supports multiple languages and can customize them. Paraben's Text Searcher is designed for computer forensic examination so your searches are efficient and effective.

Version 1.2 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

This utility lets you find documents by keyword far more quickly than the Windows' built-in search tool. Paraben's Text Searcher works its magic by indexing documents, much in the same manner Web search engines do. The program supports a variety of popular file formats, including those for text, graphics, and images and lets you filter results by words or phrases. The tabbed interface is easy enough to navigate, despite its dull appearance. We retested the program to see if the stability problems had been addressed, but when we tried to index our C: drive, the app still crashed. We also think Paraben's Text Searcher is inferior to the Windows Indexing Service in some regards. For instance, it can't automatically update indexes in the background. However, this program delivers enough enhancements to the search process to make it worth a try.
