Version: PC Tools AntiVirus 2.1
"DOES WHAT IT PROMISES, TO EXTENT IT CAN, BUT I HAVE SERIOUS RESERVATIONS"
Pros: i JUST COMPLETED MY 30 DAY TRIAL of PC Tools AntiVirus. On the first day, the program impressed me by finding the TROJAN called JAVA Femad that had replicated itself in my system four times in OF ALL PLACES, the NORTON ANTIVIRUS Program I was currently running routinely.
It also located a Win32 agent downloader.
One other thing of note. NORTON was not able to find or remove the Trojan viruses in my system, NEITHER COULD MICROSOFT ANTI SPYWARE which I ran prior to PC Tools, it came up blank, and immediately afterward PC Tools found the multiple infections.
Cons: I have two chief complaints about PC Tools antivirus:
First: It DID NOT REMOVE the Source Trojan that had replicated the copies, as I have since discovered that Trojan is still present.
TWO: It Slows down the system so much after use that I was constantly frustrated in accomplishing the most mundane tasks such as editing an existing Word document.
It takes three or four days for my computer to return to it's normal operating speed after using PC Tools Anti virus, each and every time I ran the program.
Another minor complaint is the length of time the program itself takes to actually scan. I thought Norton was slow. So although PC Tools AV is a good program, it is by no means a fail safe, and it's tendency to slow down my system makes it not my first choice for Anti Virus programs.
ALthough LAVA SOFT Adaware 6 is not a "Virus Tool" per say, I find it very effective at finding and removing SPYWARE that Norton, Microsoft and even PC Tools overlooks. It also operates 200% faster than any of these others.

ADVICE TO USERS OF PC TOOLS ANTIVIRUS------ THe download version does not have a current virus definition list in it. I recommend that after downloading this program that users immediately visit the PC TOoLS website and download the rather lengthy updates to the list. Otherwise you will not get a satisfactory scan may not remove a virus or two. EXAMPLE: The download version without updates could not find TROJAN Downloader JS Small.bq until after the updates were loaded. GOOD LUCK

Version: PC Tools AntiVirus 2.1
"nice idea from a second-rate software house"
Pros: Best quality is light weight & not too annoying behaviour . However has a second-rate database & will find out only viruses that quite all of other can find (except SYMANTEC...obviously!) . Good for users that do not like surfin' too much : quick scan , not so much RAM needed & also not slow at startup . Very simple to use
Cons: Just said : poor database & superficial scan . PCTOOLS is light years far from best antivirus software houses (PANDA****-MCAFEE****-NOD*****-AVAST**)...massive advertisin' isn't enough to clean a pc !

Version: PC Tools AntiVirus 2.1
Pros: its ok does the job
Cons: slows startup and computer....takes forever to do simple stuff such as opening folders. You are better off with McAfee products which I have reviews for.

"Bloody crap this app has turned into. Wish I never bought!"
Pros: Real time protection(I guess).
Cons: On guard way overdoes it, you cannot run big applications with it on or your pc will stall because it runs the hell out of the hard drive as things load. Try running Azureus with it! What a hoot! What is the point of protection that needs to be turned off to let ANYTHING big run? I feel so ripped. By the way we're talking a 2.5 ghz Athlon with 2 GB RAM!!!! Do not give them money for a program that acts like a virus!
