- Version reviewed: PC Security Tweaker 9.1
This program lets you secure any Windows-based computer from one centralized location, and it performed very well during testing.
PC Security Tweaker offers a clean interface consisting of a toolbar menu at the top, a tree menu on the left, and two viewing panels on the right. We were a little turned off by the desktop clutter that accompanies the program, which places three icons on your desktop. Plus, you get a nag screen each time you open the program asking you to register--and pay--for the program. Despite this, the screen-lock function worked perfectly, turning our screen to black and then requiring a password to bring it back. We were able to go in and disable/enable control panel settings and lock/unlock specific drives, all in the same window. The only drawback with this program is that it doesn't require a password to go in and change the settings, even passwords. Someone could easily get into the program and manipulate your settings if you don't have the screen lock activated.
The convenience of this all-in-one security program outweighs the few negatives we encountered. The 30-day trial is plenty of time for even the most novice users to learn the ins and outs of PC Security Tweaker.
