The change is subtle, but this free add-on for Thunderbird gives the e-mail client a sleek, silvery look. Outlook 2003 SilverTB doesn't have a dedicated interface. You just drop the zipped file onto Thunderbird's Theme tab after opening the add-ons window. Then it's merely a matter of choosing the theme and restarting Thunderbird.
The theme doesn't create an enormous change. The toolbar shrinks slightly and gets a new background that starts out strong on the left and fades to the right. The color is somewhere between silver and lavender. Frequently used icons such as Get Mail, Write, and Address Book are always in color with black text labels. Icons that aren't currently active on the toolbar are in white with a light gray label. They can be hard to read, but the icon and font immediately change when they are available for use. There are no options or settings involved, and aside from installation, the user doesn't need to do a thing.
This theme is subtle and attractive. If you want to change Thunderbird's default look, Outlook 2003 SilverTB is free and easily added.
