This attractive but somewhat puzzling utility monitors your computer's memory usage in real time. OrangeRamtrace 2006's transparent, modern-looking application window displays CPU activity and the amount and speed of released and written data. The Statistic window displays a bar graph of results from the current and previous day. Various options let you tweak the interface's color and select which type of memory you want to monitor. The program badly needs a help file, however, since the interface is quite unclear despite its good looks. It's not even obvious how to minimize the application window (as it turns out, you need to right-click the windowpane to access the context menu). We weren't thrilled with the 14-day trial either. OrangeRamtrace 2006 seems to deliver solid information, but its quirky interface reduces its appeal. We'd recommend giving it a thorough tryout before buying.
