"Great for Oracle designers/developers."
Version: Oracle Database 10g Express Edition 10.2.0.2
Pros
Most of the functionality of the Enterprise (expensive) Edition. Allows me to test design, sql and pl/sql on my desktop without connecting to a 'real' Oracle implementation. Full implementation of command-line SQLPlus and PL/SQL.
Cons
Lacks some advanced features of the costly Enterprise Edition of Oracle. No included GUI environment, but that can be obtained separately.
Summary
Exceptionally good for tinkerers, designers and developers. Not for commercial DB implementation, but great for getting the kinks out of new Oracle DB design and basic testing. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience Oracle or design/test new schemas or ideas.
