The premise of Opera has always been the same--develop the fastest, smallest, and most full-featured browser available--and the latest version maintains the tradition. Opera has all the basics covered, including tabbed browsing with an added functionality that lets you hover over a tab to preview a page; a search bar with Google and several other popular portals; advanced bookmarking tools, including one that lets you easily import from any popular browser; and simple integration with your favorite e-mail and chat clients. Mouse-gesture support, keyboard shortcuts, and drag-and-drop functionality further enhance your surfing experience.
With solid basics, Opera's extra features push it to the top of the class. Integrated theme support lets you preview and download themes from within the interface so you know what you're getting before you download. Widgets (akin to Mac OS X dashboard applications) are small, useful programs that appear in a window from any app while Opera is running. The Wand utility helps you autofill online forms and lets you securely save passwords for multiple sites. We really like the addition of BitTorrent support, letting you drop a Torrent link into the address bar and begin a file transfer immediately without the need for an extra app. Overall, we think Opera might have what it takes to unseat even the biggest-name browsers if users give it the opportunity. Opera is a must-download for those looking for a full-featured browser with added extras.
Publisher's description
From Opera Software :Opera enhances the way you access, share and use online content by including support for BitTorrent, the popular file distribution technology and innovative widgets - small and handy Web programs. Widgets make everyday browsing fun & useful by bringing a variety of Web content and data right to your desktop. Opera guarantees online efficiency, whether by tabbed browsing or allowing you to add your favorite search engines to the search bar.
Features such as saved sessions, trash can, notes and the ability to start exactly where you last closed Opera keep you productive. By introducing the security bar to prevent scams like phasing and strengthening pop-up blocker Opera ensures safe browsing. Opera even lets you improve how individual sites behave or block advertisements on a site-by-site basis. Version 9 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Version: Opera 9
"Best Browser for Mac and Windows"
Pros: Finally up to speed with the Windows version, 9.0 fixes a lot of previously Mac-specific bugs.
Cons: "Macintosh Native" theme is ugly and doesn't match the OS. Use "Opera Standard" instead.

Version: Opera 9
"Stable, easy to use, fast - Update is needed"
Pros: The previous v9 release had some bugs, but this one is very good again. The extra features for feeds, mail and all the personalization are good. The widgets are abundant on Mac since you'll have Dashboard and maybe Yahoo Widgets.

Version: Opera 9
"History is flawed; otherwise pretty good."
Pros: Customizable toolbars and numerous widgets.
Cons: Visited links are not remembered in Mac OSX; they expire as soon as you quit the program, regardless of your history settings. For someone who uses bbs boards daily where links to messages read must be noted, this is a MAJOR flaw.
