OnyX is a multifunction utility for Mac OS X (PowerPC and Intel). It allows you to verify the Startup Disk and the structure of its System files, to run misc tasks of system maintenance, to configure the hidden parameters of the Finder, Dock and of some of Apple's own applications, to delete caches, to remove a certain number of files and folders that may become cumbersome and more.

Instead of suffering through Google searches for error type ????, I have Onyx do the heavy lifting for me.
Cons
Unfortunately, some of the problems return, and I have to run Onyx again.

For my laptop (Snow Leopard) Onyx has been very good. Used it since day one in all other system iterations. No pass word required.
Cons
However with my main computer running OS Lion why does the Lion Onyx download suddenly require a pass word? What a load of ......
