This free utility shares much of the functionality of applications like Cocktail (which its help files suspiciously resemble), and it can help you with everything from checking S.M.A.R.T. status on your disks to configuring the Dock, Finder, and Dashboard and Expos to your liking. OnyX can even help you run Unix utilities and change your desktop to an animated background. This goes to show you how popular Onyx is for Mac users:
If you Google 'Onyx Mac', the TOP result is a SCAM SITE (onyxmac.com / 67.205.60.254) that lures you into downloading some mysterious scam ware called 'SpeedUpMac' that is entirely UNrelated to Onyx. I scanned the DMG file for Mac malware and found none.
By nefarious means, (I used Pacifist on the DMG file), I was able to discover that the anonymous scamware is actually from THIS website:
http://www.stellarinfo.com/
The ACTUAL name of the software is: Stellar Speedup Mac. NEITHER of these websites have WHOIS data, meaning that the owners are PURE EVIL. Or something like that. You get the idea. Stay away.
