This full-fledged offline browser not only copies individual Web pages and online photo albums, it even downloads and lets you view entire sites offline. Its customizable interface lets you easily cope with numerous downloads by arranging them in folders. You can view retrieved sites or search for new targets from within the program with the built-in browser. Offline Explorer provides everything for easy downloading: proxy-server support, connection control (number of simultaneous connections, bandwidth limitations), an internal dial-up that disconnects when finished or resumes broken connections, scheduling, and smart Web-browser integration.

Various filters cut unnecessary content, letting you determine what file types, sizes, URLs, servers, domains, and directories to skip or include. You also can retrieve only updated files, disable downloading or directories from a convenient site map, or simply drag missing pages from your browser. The program doesn't let you preview the site map and select needed directories, however. It also consumes a fair amount of memory for a download tool. Still, dial-up Internet users may find Offline Explorer a godsend.

MetaProducts Offline Explorer is a Windows program that allows you to download an unlimited number of your favorite Web and FTP sites for later offline viewing, editing, or browsing (SHTTP, RTSP, and MMS downloads are supported in the Offline Explorer Pro version). OE also has many Web-development features that allow you to easily edit, view, browse, or search downloaded Web papges (OE has a built-in internal browser). Version 3.9 SR2 added XP styles support for the Internal Browser; improved Options | Speed section behavior.
