Publisher's Description
From Five12 Inc.:
Numerology is a modular sequencing environment designed for performing musicians. It works by giving the user an organized workspace within which they can quickly create and connect together a variety of highly functional sequencing and MIDI event generating modules. As a fully modular environment, the user can construct sequencing instruments that fit their own unique and twisted requirements. The sequencers follow a model similar to that used by analog sequencers: the user creates sequences of control values that can be routed to other modules to control generation of notes or MIDI CC and Pitch Bend messages.

"Super-flexible Step Sequencer for the power user."
Version: Numerology 3.0.1
Pros
Powerful modular design, flexible control routing. The developer (FIve12) is incredibly interactive with users on forum, listening and making frequent improvements. Users can work in simple ways or with dizzying complexity if desired. Good docs.
Cons
I think the learning curve can be a little daunting. Tutorial vids are for older version. Supposedly newer tutorial vids are on the way.
Summary
I had been looking for a good step-sequencer for Mac. Little did I know when I found Numerology, that I'd be opening a crazy door into another universe.
I neglected to mention that Numerology is also available in an AU version (in addition to the stand-alone app) that runs in a DAW. Is available in a couple different pricing packages.
This software has the potential to be more clever than the user. But if you have specific things you are striving to do in terms of generating grooves, harmonic patterns, and (especially) melodic patterns, Numerology 3 delivers.
In stand-alone mode, it can run several different kinds of step-sequencers, with a high degree configurability. Odd-meters, strange beat divisions, custom scales, etc. etc. NO PROBLEM! It can host AU instruments and effects, can run arrangements of multiple configurations, and much much more. I never use this word about software (check my other reviews), but this one is SICK!!! (in a good way).

"Sequencing on steroids"
Version: Numerology 1.4.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is an electronica geek's dream. It's basically a modular sequencing and synthesis system that works with AudioUnit instruments and effects and even live audio input. You can patch anything to anything else and control all parameters through sequencers, virtual faders, or MIDI Learn with hardware controllers. It can also control external MIDI devices. In fact, it's built for live performance, so it is surprisingly easy to quickly start doing cool things with it. You can't believe how cool Numerology is until you try it. It runs in demo mode with reasonable limitations until you register it. Still a bit rough around the edges in terms of GUI and not completely stable yet, but you can use this for real work as many others are doing, and you can do things with it you can't do any other way. It's developed one man, James Coker, who fixed a problem I had with Numerology within a few days of my report. You don't get that kind of response from big companies. Highly recommended.
