"Norton 2013 permanently wiped my login data"
Version: Norton Internet Security 2013 beta
Pros
Happier times with 2012
Cons
Norton isn't the same company it was.
Summary
Upggrading to 2013 just lost all but six of my logins out of 90 and a bunch of confidential notes. I cannot believe how amateurish the algorithm must be to allow such a thing to happen. The upgrade does not make a safety backup and so the failed migration has in effect cost me an incalculable loss of confidential data. AVOID IT at all costs and get another brand

"2013 version ruins a good piece of software!"
Version: Norton Internet Security 2013 beta
Pros
Fast scanning, low on resources, assume that the detection rate is still top in class
Cons
New interface is absolutely horrible, features not working, crashes during upgrade process, resets browser homepage by default.
Summary
What was Symantec thinking by releasing this piece of garbage?? As a happy user of NIS for the last two years, this is a huge step in the wrong direction. The new interface looks like a cheap rush job which didnt address the criticisms of the beta. The text focus/blur feature is HORRIBLE...you cant even read the text in the interface, and it pulses in and out of focus as it sits without interaction. This feature even breaks the QR tag (phone cant read it, too blurry) inserted to provide mobile phone users a link to the mobile software...come on!
The app crashed and refused to start after installing over the top of my 2012 version. I had to uninstall, download a separate uninstall utility, and then re-install in order to get it to function properly.
After becoming disgusted with the new version, I finally had to contact their technical support staff to get a link to the 2012 version of the program as I could no longer find it in the downloads section. I will be using the 2012 version until my subscription runs out...then I will be purchasing a solution from a different vendor. Inexcusable behavior from a class-leading AV company like Symantec...investors beware if this is an indication of future direction for Symantec's software development! -
"Loss of features from 2012 version"
Version: Norton Internet Security 2013 beta
Pros
Easy on resources, fast.
Cons
Loss of offline ID vault and Facebook button added to Norton Toolbar are a killer for me. Symantec didn't listen to their beta testers about this at all. I will not be upgrading to Norton 2013 and the renewal fee for Norton 2012 has gone up to 69 dollars. Way to much. Going to have to find an alternative solution.
