About once a month nortons will give me an error saying there is as problem with my subcription and wont run properly. I have to uninstall and then reinstall to fix it. So far, i have done this about 6 times since purchasing this program back in January.

This version of Norton improved many things over the previous versions.Good design.Excellent detection of virus, worm and Trojans.The spyware detection can be used as a stand-alone program due it's good capabilities.Realtime protection is effective at keeping any type of malware out of the system.Faster scanning and low on ram.Daily updates.

Slow updating that's the only problem.

I've been using Norton for the past 7 years and recently, I've stumbled upon reviews like the previous ones. I've also read opinions that Norton doesn't detect things that other programs will. I was like, "Please..whatever! They are a leading company!", but I decided to test things out. I D/L another AV program and sure enough....three trojan horses popped up that Norton failed to detect prior to my D/L of the other software. NNIIICCCEEE. And yes, I am a PAID subscriber to Norton and the definitions are fully up-to-date.
Upon a support chat with an analyst out of INDIA, she explained "In case a very important windows files is infected and if norton deletes it the whole windows system could malfunction and that is why the operating system denies access and norton does not detect or delete the file."
Is she kidding???? Then why would another program detect it? AND..never mind the fact that my infections were in a MY DOCUMENTS folder not even in any WINDOWS folder.
I am beside myself. I truly am.
OH..and yes...HUGE resource hog (memory).....if your system is sluggish and you don't have much running....there you go. Norton. :(
I still can't get over this one, though. But I can bet my bottom dollar I am not re-subscribing when my subscription is up.

I'm a novice regarding computers.. but my computer caught a virus the other night, and it's crashing all the time now. Norton came on w/a warning to let me know, but it was too late. So it could have been my fault w/not knowing what to do w/that warning. Maybe have to take it in for $200 to get it fixed or just buy a new laptop. I thought that's what anti-virus software was for.. and why I got it in the first place to avoid this.
