Nightie Night is a simple application for Mac OS X and later that puts your computer to sleep when its countdown timer reaches zero.
Use the volume fading feature to gradually increase the volume after your Mac's scheduled wake time and fade the volume down before your Mac falls asleep. You can even program it to play an iTunes playlist for alarm-clock functionality.
