    Version: Network Magic 3.1

"The 3.1 version is much better than 3.0."

by GezaGabriel on July 19, 2006

Pros: This is easier to setup and install and the quick start informs me about general problems (like what to do with the automaticly detected firewall). There were many bug fixes and some more improvments after 3.0, so this new release is more stable.

The network detection works fine and you can get a much better view than you can see from the general MS discovery. From the visual display you can decide what is what.

While working as beta i had received a great support so i think the support is good anyway. So, i thnink if any problems exists, just contact the support (forum is recommended, friendly air).

(The NM no longer hangs - causing me crash - next to unknown router or connection. /wrote at last review/)

The grapics are nice and the program tries to show you own icons for each network interface kinds (like server, notebook, router, etc.).

You can check the status of your machines' windows updates and some other security settings.

Cons: Support more-more-more... routers and network devices.

While the Net2Go feature is very useful, you can only get it's benefit if your router supports the usage.

Your own high custom security settings might cause that Network Magic can't recognise your machine correctly. Right now there's no advice what to change or allow.

At the current release you can't set up time for discovery timing which may cause high network traffic (more computers + more network magics = more network usage)

The shareing's security is too light. Allowing full control for group Everyone makes me unsure how to trust this product!

    Version: Network Magic 3.1

    "It does Have Limitations"

    by Big.Daddy.1124 on October 23, 2006

Pros: The software does what it claims with ease.

For those of you who aren't familar with setting up a home network this software can do the job for you quickly.

Cons: However, to use any of the features in the software interface, you must pay for the service of Network Magic. It is listed as free with no limitations which isn't the case at all!

    "NOT "FREE" !"

    by pjohn323 on August 25, 2006

Pros: This a demo of their Starship software. Beautiful interface, easy install and uninstall.

Cons: After 30 days, it reverts to their basic version, will NOT share files or printers. The demo would not share a HP printer on a HP computer with a Compag. Running WINXP Pro and WINXP Home !
