Communicator 4.04 is the latest maintenance release of the Internetsoftware suite from Netscape. In addition to the Netscape Navigatorbrowser, Communicator includes a complete set of tools for effectiveeveryday communication. The set includes Messenger and Collabra, whichprovide email and Usenet capabilities; Netcaster, Netscape's push technology client;and Composer, which offers HTML design and editing functions. Version 4.04 also includes AOL Instant Messenger, which lets you exchange messages over the Internet in real time. New in version 4.04 are performance enhancements to start-up time: Java loads faster, and Composer saves files more quickly. Netscape has improved stability in the Message Center and has added security enhancements to support the different encryption levels available to users. This version will also support the optional Fortezza module,which is available from Netscape and enables the use of Fortezzatechnology, Netscape's body of hardware-based cryptographic services.
