Communicator 4.06 is the latest release of the Internet software suite from Netscape. In addition to the Netscape Navigator browser, Communicator includes a complete set of tools for effective, everyday communication. The set includes Messenger and Collabra, which provide email and Usenet capabilities; Netcaster, Netscape's push technology client; and Composer, which offers HTML design and editing functions. Communicator also includes AOL Instant Messenger, which lets you exchange messages over the Internet in real time. Version 4.05 introduced a new Security window and the ability for users to import and export text in Composer. Version 4.06 adds some of the features seen in the prerelease of version 4.5 such as Smart Browsing, which allows you to enter keywords directly into the location bar and returns search results. Communicator version 4.06, available for both 16- and 32-bit platforms, is designed to include features introduced in the prerelease of version 4.5 that were proven to be stable and reliable such as Smart Browsing, integration with the Netcenter home site, certain performance enhancements, and extended multimedia support.
