Some of the publisher's claims about this tool to boost your modem are true, but unfortunately not its ability to improve Internet performance.

NetScream does live up to its promise of ease-of-use, and the interface is so simple it takes just seconds to figure out. You'll find three menu options (Help, Tech Support, and About), and two drop-down menus for choosing your operating system and your modem. There's also a slide bar for choosing the speed setting, but some testers reported that it didn't respond. After making selections, all it takes is a click of the Go button to initiate the program. Even testers who couldn't move the slide bar received a message to restart their computers so the changes could take place. Results were mixed, but not one tester got close to the 200 percent improvement boasted by the manufacturer. Some even reported a more sluggish, worsened system. In most cases the improvement was minimal.

NetScream has a 28-day trial period, which is plenty of time to see if it can improve your Internet performance. Systems vary and you might have better luck than we did.

No modifications to your hardware are made and all adjustments and settings are done in an easy-to-use interface that a child could use. Most other modem enhancers promise that they work while you notice no difference at all in Internet speed. Version 1.1.7.2008 includes unspecified updates.
