Publisher's Description
From naturalsoft:
NaturalReader is a professional text to speech program that converts any written text into spoken words. It's never been so easy to use a text-to-speech program. Just one click, and your computer speaks any text aloud in a clear, natural sounding voice. All you do is, press one hot-key, and your computer reads any selected text. You can listen to online news, Emails, e-books, Documents, and PDF files. NaturalReader also has the ability to convert any written text into an MP3 or WAV audio file, so you can listen later with your iPod. With the Floating Bar, you can move NaturalReader anywhere without blocking the screen. By moving the Speed bar, you can adjust the reading speed to your preference. As well, you can change speakers by clicking the Speaker menu.

"Liar Liar liar"
Version: Natural Reader (Mac) 2.0
Pros
watching words highlighted when the program is reading text.
Cons
can't think of any.
Summary
what's the use of saying they have 2 sample voices when those voices aren't used in the program?

"Aweful, I hate it"
Version: Natural Reader (Mac) 2.0
Pros
None (well it works in a very primitive way)
Cons
Not user friendly
Not intuitive to use, nor is it smart enough to figure out what to read unless you highlight it
Buggy pos software
Have to pay $50 for personal version.
Absolutely primitiveSummary
This is one of the worst softwares I have worked with. We downloaded a version trying to help children with reading and speaking disabilities.
This software has several bugs (not wasting my time getting into them), does not work nicely with user, help index is written just so there is something, but it's usesless. Features are absolutely primitive (if this was 1990 I would give it a few more points)
User support is there, but since it's such a crappy pos software, there isn't much support they can give you.
There is a message in the setup that says that certain features are only available with the paid version. Only thing is that stupid message doesn't go away even once you have a paid version.
The only way this works in a browser is if you highlight the text first. That is annoying for two reasons: a) if you don't use an accurate mouse (e.g. Notebook) then it's annoying. b) highlighting text on a website will include all the promos and ads and the software will try to read everything.
The whole software feels like it was written by a highschooler, definitely lacks professional software maturity. Everytime I run into a bug, closing the app and reopen it will not fix or reset things. I had to uninstall and re-install it. I spent several hours on it trying to play with it, giving it the benefit of doubt. What a complete waste of time and money. Don't waste your hard earned money on this crap. -

"This is not free! You have to buy it to use it at all."
Version: Natural Reader (Mac) 2.0
Pros
The voices it demos sound much better than the Mac sounds.
Cons
This program is an advertisement. You can't even try it out; you can only listen the Mac sounds and a demo of two voices. You have to copy the material into it to work.
Summary
The product is probably good, but you have to buy it and it isn't cheap. Anything I tried in this version gave a message that it wasn't available without buying the program and I had to go through all the options menus and manual to find that out. I might have given it a good rating if it was honest.
