You might be able to tweak your operating system with this freeware application designed to improve performance. Or you might destabilize your OS enough you'll need to use System Restore. Working with a product that alters so many system settings is not for the novice or faint of heart. Mz Ultimate Tweaker's interface is plain, simple, and most tweaks are simple enable/disable checkboxes, but there are inherent dangers in making such sweeping changes.
This utility presents dozens of tweaks in 10 categories: performance, system, service, visual, Internet, IE, Windows Media Player, and others. Since every system is so different it is impossible to state unequivocally that your system's speed or Internet connection will improve. Some settings are merely a matter of taste and won't harm your OS. However, you shouldn't use this program unless you feel you can recreate your OS on your own. Though it links to your Windows System Restore Service, Mz Ultimate Tweaker doesn't automatically set restore points before making changes. In some cases, testers complained the program made changes on first execution.
This application made some small speed improvements to some of our test machines. In others, we found no improvement. Many of the tweaks presented have been shown to improve performance on some machines. Many are a matter of preference. If you feel your system is sluggish, and you're comfortable setting restore points and backing up your Registry, then Mz Ultimate Tweaker may help you. If you're a novice user who isn't sure what is meant by "48bit LBA Support" then pass on this utility.
