It doesn't come with any extras, but you'll appreciate MultiPart's business-like approach to splitting large files into more digestible bits. The interface is compact and to the point, with two main buttons for splitting or recombining files. Compared to other file splitters we've seen, this one has an exceptionally large menu of 18 standard sizes, including several SyQuest, CD, and DVD options, but it also supports custom settings. You can check the offered boxes if you want to create a batch file when files are split, or delete source files after they're merged. Windows Explorer-style browsers make it easy to locate files, and we especially like the simple window that appears after splitting files that gives the number of split files and includes a link to go to the newly created folder. In our tests, the program quickly and effectively split files into the selected sizes, and files were easily recombined through the program or with the batch file. Though some file splitters add context menu options to Windows Explorer or sport fancier interfaces, we like this application's straightforward approach. Despite its ease of use, however, we were a bit put off by the three-use trial, which seems overly restrictive. Even so, both novices and experts dealing with oversize files will appreciate MultiPart's effectiveness and simplicity.
