This batch MP3 tag editor is, in the words of a user, "simply indispensable." If you're looking for a freeware ID3 tag editor with an auto-tagging feature sourced from FreeDB, Amazon, or discogs, you could do much, much worse than Mp3tag.
Besides checking and correcting song tags en masse, the lightweight application sports batch and single edits to effect such changes as case changing, auto-numbering, tag and track name flipping, and user-defined actions. There's playlist support and configuration exporting in six formats including CSV, HTML, and RTF. Support for more than two dozen languages offer the program up for international use, and a Favorite directory makes it easy to return to your music assuming you keep all your tracks in the same root folder.
The interface is a bit too simple, though. It won't be hard for anybody to navigate once you get used to the busy Toolbar and using mouse-over labels to identify button functions, but it certainly could be clarified with bigger buttons, or at least more easily identifiable icons. At worst, the user interface will slow you down, but in no way should it stop you from using this top-flight MP3 tag tweaker.
Publisher's description
From Florian Heidenreich :Mp3tag is a powerful and yet easy-to-use tool to edit Tags of MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Musepack, Monkey's Audio, FLAC, and WavPack files. It can rename files based on the tag information, replace characters or words from tags and filenames, import/export tag information, create playlists and more. Version: Mp3tag 2.39
Cons: I could not change the file name so I did not try any of its other features. I mean, no file name change capacity?

Version: Mp3tag 2.39
Pros: After comparing several packages this one is the best and the one I?m going to keep. Great overall functionality, multi file processing, mass track numbering, powerful naming options, good help, easy to use, does everything I want it to do quickly and easily, shows attention to detail by the developer, creative option of using Amazon.de to make a donation, and all this for free.

Version: Mp3tag 2.39
"The ultimate music organizer"
Pros: You can edit music files from freedb, Amazon, text files. Can write into tag or filename. Fast and very flexible.
Cons: We should be able to edit a large folder and select the one to edit from a search query. We should be able to edit song tags in right table.
It's a great software anyway.

Version: Mp3tag 2.39
"WOW!! The must Mp3 editing utility!"
Pros: The Mp3tag has sooo many different Tag editing options to chose from such as Converting Filename from Tag; Converting Tag from File name; Replacing Characters and Expressions from Filename, or Tag; Finding Tag Source from websites such as Disogs, Amazon and Feeddb.
All of the tag editing can customised very easily withing the program.
Also you can add a embedded Album Cover to the Mp3 file also, which is quite handy with the Ipod era.
Doesnt hog any memory at all easily run it along side many different programs.
Supports the Drag and drop option whether it be a folder or selected files. It then quickly reads the Tags and displays them on screen for easy editing.
Cons: At first this program will seem very daunting and confusing, but given 5mins of fiddling around and playing you'll see how usefull this utility is.
Only out on Windows format atm, though i will be getting Crossover for my Mac so shall see if it works on there soon awell.
Overall Opinion.......
I have been for years manually editing my Mp3's due to a lack of a program that i felt was a reliable and user friendly tool.
I would reccomend this to anyone, whether you new to the game or a veteran.
There arent any flaws in this program, i've been using it for months without on glitch. It is fast at batch editing and renaming of every seperate tag such as artist, album, track title, etc.
The ability to search the web for album track information quickly and easy is one of the main reasons i pick this, is much more helpful and correct than iTunes or Win Media Players built it tools.
This program is a must for anyone whom uses Mp3 tracks whether it be on there Ipod, Mp3 player, Phone, Mp3 CDs.
Give it a try, you'll understand how helpful it is.
Also Mp3tag v2.40 is out now folks with more features
