CNET Editors' review
Read CNET senior editor Rob Vamosi's extended review of Firefox 2, or watch a video tour of the new features.
Even though Internet Explorer dominates the Web browser market, you might wonder why if you spend some time with Mozilla Firefox. This light and nimble Web wonder brought tabbed browsing into the mainstream (IE7 recently jumped on the bandwagon) and offers countless ways to customize it through extensions and themes. Drag-and-drop tabs with individual close buttons help keep your content organized the way you like, and you can further streamline your browsing through the use of extensive hot keys. You'll find all of the regular options and features required for surfing the Web in the default setup, but the groundbreaking features come with the thousands of third-party extensions. Likewise, if you don't like the look of the default interface, there are hundreds of slick themes to use, though many weren't updated for version 2 at its release.
Firefox is the perfect browser for those involved with Web design and coding. A JavaScript debugger comes standard, and Firefox displays the page-source code in a new window, using indents and color-coded tags similar to an HTML editor. The built-in pop-up blocker works great for most sites, and new antiphishing protections and enhanced security for extensions are in the version 2 release. Anyone looking for a full-featured browser with seemingly endless ways to customize should download this powerhouse.

"Goodbye Opera Kestrel 9.5...Mozilla Wins Spectacularly"
Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.12
Pros
I WAS a confirmed and loyal Opera fan for ages, but the problems with that browser really grated on me: a constant stream of crashes, an inability to view many news videos and some incompatibilities with seveal of my bank sites. Mozilla--you've won, and deservedly. At this point, Mozilla is many, many miles ahead and still developing rapidly. Compare Mozilla's Add-Ons with Opera's "Widgets." No comparison--Mozilla has thousands and so many are elegant and tailored to making browsing/research both more exciting and efficient. Opera? So many mickey mouse "widgets," who knows how many different clocks, as if so many were needed....point is, Mozilla has incorporated the inventions of its users right into the browser and has drawn on a huge, huge pool of programming talent.
I cannot imagine Opera coming close with its next version of Kestrel. Hint: do install Firetune and Fasterfox--they definitely increase speed tremendously on my system. Also, I still love using Outlook Express, finding Thunderbird bloated and very sluggish. Outlook is still a no-frill rock solid email client. Get a hold of the "external application" add-on to launch any program from Mozilla's tab bar--it launches my mail program in a split second.....love it.....
Cons
Whatever I could criticize in Mozilla would simply seem petty in comparison with its formidable features. I don't want to suffer the guilt!! Kudos to the Mozilla team.

"Fantastic, best"
Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.12
Pros
Ok, this is the best internet browser there is right now. The beta for Firefox is absolutely trash so get Firefox 2 and don't upgrade it. Internet explorer is crap right now but IE8 is the best beta so far. I highly recommend using Google web accelerator with this software. THIS IS A MUST HAVE for everyone.
Cons
Once in a blue moon, the 12 of never it crashes. SO BASICALLY I am saying nothing bad about it.
