Even though Internet Explorer dominates the Web browser market, you might wonder why if you spend some time with Mozilla Firefox. This light and nimble Web wonder brought tabbed browsing into the mainstream (IE7 recently jumped on the bandwagon) and offers countless ways to customize it through extensions and themes. Drag-and-drop tabs with individual close buttons help keep your content organized the way you like, and you can further streamline your browsing through the use of extensive hot keys. You'll find all of the regular options and features required for surfing the Web in the default setup, but the groundbreaking features come with the thousands of third-party extensions. Likewise, if you don't like the look of the default interface, there are hundreds of slick themes to use, though many weren't updated for version 2 at its release.
Firefox is the perfect browser for those involved with Web design and coding. A JavaScript debugger comes standard, and Firefox displays the page-source code in a new window, using indents and color-coded tags similar to an HTML editor. The built-in pop-up blocker works great for most sites, and new antiphishing protections and enhanced security for extensions are in the version 2 release. Anyone looking for a full-featured browser with seemingly endless ways to customize should download this powerhouse.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.12
Pros: I have to admit I was never a Firefox fan, and I'm still not. I just think it's a wonderful browser. It happens when one day, I was on IE7 and I got very frustrated with ads and the download window that never gets out the way and/or accidentally cancels. That was when I had it, and downloaded Firefox, and I'm happy I did. Firefox is not only a customizable browser, it has many extensive features you can add to it.
I personally love AdBlock Plus, DownloadStatusBar, and FlashBlock. These extensions are very powerful with Firefox, when using. Firefox also has a potential of not constantly crashing (like IE7 from corrupted flash objects or "send error reports") It also has many search engine you can use (although IE7 has this too, it automatically loads the the query when you switch the search engine which is very annoying) Firefox is also only about 19MB for something that does so much.
Cons: I honestly can't rate how safe this browser is unless it is doing the job without me knowing. The speed and RAM usage however, isn't well. I really have no idea where people get their statistics, but last time I tested, the speed of the browser was just as slow as IE7, and the RAM usage was a bit more than IE7. A small price to pay, because Firefox's extensions are powerful. There are also no scrollbar colors when using CSS, and rendering isn't as powerful as IE7.
Although that is a small price to pay, having both browsers to switch back and forth on is a good choice. Or perhaps you can download Opera too and have three browsers you can test your webpages on.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.12
Pros: It has more customizations then any browser I've ever used. It's fast, secure and my preferred browser.
Cons: To bad for me,that I can't use it. On the lest two computers I've owned, when Firefox is installed my CD-RW Drive (D:) doesn't read disks correctly. All icons on every disk, CD or DVD are Firefox icons. This only happens on my D: drive where the bottom optical drive E: reads correctly. Even the manufacturers tech support people can't find an answer. As soon as I uninstall Firefox and run a one click maintenance with Tuneup Utilities, the problem is gone. Anyone here know how to fix this?

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.12
Pros: Maybe one of the best browsers out there on the Internet, Mozilla Firefox patches it's updates quickly and simple (and in small sizes too), compared to IE. >.> Of course, Firefox offers more than your average browser, such as a pop-blocker, multi-tabs, phishing prevention (on a small measure), and add-ons. Session recovery proved quite useful. Firefox is also known to have one of the fastest Java execution times too.
Cons: I am still waiting for the official Firefox 3 (not betas or RCs), which includes numerous fixes to bugs and performance optimizations. However, when I open say about 5 tabs at a time, Firefox uses around 110MB of memory just to run them. 75MB just for 2 tabs. Well, thats doesn't sound so good either. MF3 fixes that problem. Darn hurry up MF3 ^.^
