Even though Internet Explorer dominates the Web browser market, you might wonder why if you spend some time with Mozilla Firefox. This light and nimble Web wonder brought tabbed browsing into the mainstream (IE7 recently jumped on the bandwagon) and offers countless ways to customize it through extensions and themes. Drag-and-drop tabs with individual close buttons help keep your content organized the way you like, and you can further streamline your browsing through the use of extensive hot keys. You'll find all of the regular options and features required for surfing the Web in the default setup, but the groundbreaking features come with the thousands of third-party extensions. Likewise, if you don't like the look of the default interface, there are hundreds of slick themes to use, though many weren't updated for version 2 at its release.
Firefox is the perfect browser for those involved with Web design and coding. A JavaScript debugger comes standard, and Firefox displays the page-source code in a new window, using indents and color-coded tags similar to an HTML editor. The built-in pop-up blocker works great for most sites, and new antiphishing protections and enhanced security for extensions are in the version 2 release. Anyone looking for a full-featured browser with seemingly endless ways to customize should download this powerhouse.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.11
Pros: I was never a huge fan of Mozilla Firefox, however it was the default browser for my Ubuntu OS desktop. This browser is highly rated by many people, recommended because of it's customization, and extensions. What I like most about Firefox is the extensions, plugins, and how it's always efficient. I needed Firefox because of the very useful plugins. Some of my favorites are AdBlock, download status bar, reminder fox, and Forecast Fox. You can also customize this browser with themes/skins (although I never bother) but many people find that a useful function.
Cons: Sadly, this browser is not a browser to be used with all the time even though it has so much to it. Internet Explorer 7 still runs in popularity because it is built-in with every Microsoft Windows. However, I did not see the "speed" or the "resource-light" or the "safe" function of this browser. I found that IE7 and Opera still uses less memory than Firefox, and still runs faster than Firefox. The "safety" idea, I am not sure about. This browser seems a lot safer because it's not targeted as much as Internet Explorer, therefore Opera and Firefox has an advantage.
Also, it doesn't feel as "comforting" as IE7. Both Opera and Firefox still can't view certain pages correctly, which is another disadvantage. Firefox seems a little to quiet (no "click" sounds when clicking lol) and I didn't see the option of viewing my homepage on a new tab, it keeps coming out to say "Untitled" and was blank.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.11
Pros: Infinitely safer than IE (including IE7) and plenty of skins ("themes") so that Firefox can look as you want it to look. It has enough available extensions that you can make Firefox truly be your own browser.
Cons: When multiple tabs are open, Firefox begins using a high percentage of the CPU.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.11
Pros: I'm grading on a curve here. Firefox isn't perfect, but is about the best web browser overall for use on Windows machines. Safari is faster, but a little short on features. Opera is more secure, but not as user friendly. IE is, well, a train wreck. (I'm not a Microsoft hater - I've just had a lot of trouble with IE7 malfunctions.)
Firefox works better and more predictably with services like Google Docs and Zoho Office than the others do. Windows and tabs are easier to control, and the interface is just simpler. The extension and add-ons available mean those who have fits of geekness can load it up with every gadget and toolbar under the sun, or folk like me can keep it streamlined and plain. Installation was a snap, and it imported by bookmarks and homepage settings from IE.
I used IE for a long time (don't laugh), but now I'm a Firefox convert. On my aging XP laptop, it just works better.
Cons: Even using just a few of the bazillion third-party add-ons available can really slow the performance down, so choose carefully.
If you don't want to keep Firefox and decide to uninstall it, it leaves a lot of files and registry key's behind. (Mozilla appears to be working on this for version 3.)

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.11
"Just O.K., and incredibly over-hyped."
Pros: Simple and attractive user interface, relatively compact download, and fast and easy to install.
Cons: Not W3C compliant. (Version 3 supposedly will be). Printing results are very poor. Un-installer leaves all sorts of junk behind. Not very fast. Has been a memory hog from the beginning. Third party add-ons require separate download and setup, and most often quit working when the browser is upgraded to a new version.
Just being "not IE" is no longer enough. Mozilla needs to fix Firefox's longstanding bugs and shortcomings. Otherwise, there isn't going to be a compelling reason for IE or Safari users to bother with it.
