Even though Internet Explorer dominates the Web browser market, you might wonder why if you spend some time with Mozilla Firefox. This light and nimble Web wonder brought tabbed browsing into the mainstream (IE7 recently jumped on the bandwagon) and offers countless ways to customize it through extensions and themes. Drag-and-drop tabs with individual close buttons help keep your content organized the way you like, and you can further streamline your browsing through the use of extensive hot keys. You'll find all of the regular options and features required for surfing the Web in the default setup, but the groundbreaking features come with the thousands of third-party extensions. Likewise, if you don't like the look of the default interface, there are hundreds of slick themes to use, though many weren't updated for version 2 at its release.
Firefox is the perfect browser for those involved with Web design and coding. A JavaScript debugger comes standard, and Firefox displays the page-source code in a new window, using indents and color-coded tags similar to an HTML editor. The built-in pop-up blocker works great for most sites, and new antiphishing protections and enhanced security for extensions are in the version 2 release. Anyone looking for a full-featured browser with seemingly endless ways to customize should download this powerhouse.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.2
Pros: With the right extensions this is the fastest browser, and they are working fast to make all extensions and themes compatable with this version, but...
Cons: ...it's still a resource-hog! Wish they were working on that instead of version 3!

"Firefox .....rests atop the browser mountain"
Pros: I would be lying to all those who read these CNET reviews if I were to say that I didn't have an agenda when writing about Firefox 2.0.0.2. I do. It is to extol the virtues of Firefox and try to inform those who mindlessly continue to use Internet Explorer out of ignorance, apathy, or laziness that there is an alternative. Yes, a better browser experience awaits you. Like so many others I too was an IE user for the longest time, that is until I woke up. The first thing that started me to look elsewhere was the fact that I was continually having to clean my Windows XP computer of spyware and adware. A friend said that he too had similar problems until he started using Firefox. I have since learned that third parties exploit the inherent weaknesses of Microsoft's Active X.
While security was the reason I first looked at Firefox, it was the greatly expanded feature set that the add-on extensions provided that really hooked me on this browser. As of now I have close to 60 extensions and themes on my Firefox. Without question they make my browsing experience SO MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE than if I was using IE. No browser available, not even the very fine Norwegian browser Opera, has the massive feature set that the extensions give Firefox. It allows the user to customize the browser to the nth degree with those features he/she wants and nothing more. Some of the extensions I most enjoy: Adblock plus - that gets rid of most all of the annoying ads on web pages, All-in-One Mouse Gestures - mouse navigation, Tab Mix Plus - to customize how I want the tabs to work, Web Search Pro - a fantastic search extension, DownThemAll! - download manager, ScrapBook - for saving internet stuff, CoolIris Previews - preview links by mouse over, Linkification - converts text links to clickable links, NoScript - security layer that allows more control of what Java Scripts run .... the list goes on and on. Simply put, it's a really fun browser to use!
Cons: While a fairly secure browser Firefox is not as secure as Opera, nor is it as standard compliant. However my biggest complaint of Firefox is that an extension ladened browser like mine is very slow to open. Once it does so the page rendering speed, while not as nimble as Opera, is reasonably fast.

"One of the few perfect programs."
Pros: Tabbed browsing, stability, compatibility, ease-of-use, customizable, auto-updating, etc. This program is brilliant. Addons are simple to find and install (and plentiful). Much more compatible than Opera which occasionally finds pages that don't work right with it. I love this software.
Cons: Does not have mouse gestures which, once you try them, are awesome. Does not save Sessions (bookmarks of multiple tabs rather than just one tab). Opera has both of these. Shortcuts aren't as easy as Opera either (jumping from tab to tab is easier to do in Opera because it doesn't involve the Control key). But believe me, the perks of Mozilla make it far better than Opera.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.2
Pros: What's not to like? Tabbed web browsing, lots of tools in the form of pluggins and best of all it's not Microsoft! It's a keeper and from all I'm hearing, there's a lot of people that agree with me!!!
Cons: Not much there that's not to like - maybe a little slow loading but once it is loaded it's great!

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.2
Pros: FireFox is how I roll; it has tabbed browsing, a myriad of plug-ins to customize your experience, and faster load times than some other browsers. It boasts crash analysis and recovery, security, and updates every once in a while. Thus, I will give it a merited 5 stars for overall performance, good step towards security, and an overall great browsing experience.
