Mozilla Firefox, formerly known as Firebird, has not quite become a fully stable product, but it does quite a few things other browser makers might want to take note of. Much like its predecessors, the latest update from the Mozilla project stays close to common users. Its clean and uncluttered interface houses only the most necessary features, with the option to easily add customized toolbars. Firefox claims to be lightning-fast in every way. In our preliminary findings and superficial comparison, we didn't notice dramatic acceleration, so we can't prove or dispute that claim. What we do know is that the more we use Firefox, the more we like it. As with all Mozilla browsers, it conforms well to standards, so pages from almost any site load and function properly. Tabbed browsing lets you set your home page as a group of tabs or open an entire folder of bookmarks in tabs. Firefox also seamlessly blocks unwelcome pop-up advertisements without requiring the download of any additional software. Disregarding the occasional stability problem, this browser suits both personal and professional use. Watch the CNET video review of Mozilla Firefox:

Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4
"Beats Safari and IE hands down"
Pros: Its one of the oly browsers that works with proxies under OS Tiger...
It loads pages faster than other browsers, handling images particularly well.
It has come on leaps and bounds in recent months... cant praise it enough...
Cons: Not a major thing but it can take a bit longer to load that most on a low power Mac... but the end result always out weighs the very small inconvinience.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4
"The perfect broswer for anyone with many added extras."
Pros: This program has many skins and is completely customizable. If you still have 10.3 and you want tabbed browsing, Firefox is great with tabbed browsing.
Cons: Sometimes the interface is slow to load, but the product is so good you should still get it.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4
"A sleek, simple, easy to use, secure, and overall fast browser for free."
Pros: Mozilla Firefox is an extremely good, user-supported Open Source alternative to Internet Explorer. It doesn't have the huge security holes that IE does, and when a hole is found, it is fixed quickly. This program being under GPL (General Public License), or Open Source licenseing, allows it to be edited and distributed freely by users. Because users can edit the source code (this is why it is called "Open Source"), bugs and security holes are found and fixed very quickly. I recommend this browser over any other out there, and so do the people at PC WORLD Magazine. In an issue I got earlier in the year, there were three different articles commending it in that one issue. More recently, in the latest issue (June 2005), it has been rated best product of the year. This is out of software, hardware, mp3 players, and web sites.
