"Nice and simple, but very, very effective."
Version: Mouse Locator 1.1
Pros
Lots! Highly customisable, and efficient.
Cons
Hardly any.
Summary
I used to constantly lose the cursor on my 27-inch iMac -- no longer!

"Simply Brilliant"
Version: Mouse Locator 1.1
Pros
* Very effective in locating the cursor
* Professional (no extravagant and flashy colours) look & feel
* Customizable to make the "magic" work as you desire
* Ideal for those who have some visual impairment (my 77 y.o. father)Cons
None after 10 days of use. Minor recommendation in the summary below.
Summary
For quite some time I have been searching for a new cursor to replace the standard Mac cursor (at times it seems so well camouflaged) for my 77 y.o. father who regularly has trouble finding the cursor on his Mac scree. Then, I stumbled across this nifty little app / utility.
My biggest problem with the Mac's Universal access cursor was that it was: 1) grainy when enlarged; and 2) still not visible. Before I switch my father to a Mac, he had used the 'trails' feature in Windows to better find his mouse. No such option existed for Mac. And, finding cursor that look age-appropriate (not interested in rainbows and unicorns) was a challenge .
What makes this utility very appropriate for my use is the ability to set the delay time by which the green cross-hairs locate the cursor, and the length of time the cross-hairs appear before they fade away. I
It works like magic. It is there when you need it and out of the way when you don't. Apple should buy, and install this in their Universal Access tab under System Preferences.
My minor recommendation is to have a small .txt file that describes how you set the controls, or make their discovery a bit more intuitive.
Lastly, I am disappointed that I could not not buy or donate to the developers (no such option on their web page). For my needs, this was very much worth money. -
"Very convenient app for keeping track of mouse"
Version: Mouse Locator 1.1
Pros
App works well on my MacBookPro OS 10.6.6 and makes it very convenient to keep track of mouse.
Cons
Can't get MouseLocator 1.1 to activate on my Mac OS 10.6.6 iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Have sent emails to 2point5fish with no response.
Summary
Great app if you can get it to work.

"A simple time-saver"
Version: Mouse Locator 1.1
Pros
On my 24 inch iMac it is easy to lose track of the cursor. Mouse Locator locates the cursor with the simple press of a key. Two green circles immediately surround it. No more need to move the mouse all over the place until it catches your eye.
Cons
I really haven't found any negatives regarding Mouse Locator.

"Super! Simple and does what it should."

Working on 3 monitors, the center of which is a 30" Cinema display flanked by a pair of 20" panels, it is all too easy to lose the cursor. The neatest feature of this Preference Panel is the "Trigger Delay". If the mouse is untouched for the set number of minutes, when moving it for the first time the locator rings appear. Very nice! I'd be happy to pay for it. Many thanks to the developer. -
"Great, but not so great"
Version: Mouse Locator 1.1
Summary

I use two adjacent 23-inch flat panel displays, and quite often I can't find the mouse cursor, so this software does help, and being free, it's hard to complain! However I feel it does the wrong thing. What would be better would be a mouse cursor that lights up, or flashes (instead of being surrounded by concentric circles) - and which does this when you shake the mouse, a la xGestures. As it is, however I tweak the configurations, the luminescent circles just appear too often, and get annoying (doubly annoying, because sometimes you do need it, but only sometimes). But kudos to the developer for the free software! -
"Mouse Locator"

What a great little Application. Thank you so much. Works flawlessly. I install it on all my client's machines, and it is really useful when I am using a projector for presentations. I set the Hold function as low as possible, and the delay to about 20 seconds. That means it just flashes up long enough to find the pointer, and doesn't come up continually when I am actively using the mouse.

"I have a new favorite!"
Version: Mouse Locator 1.0
Summary

This is a perfect tool for my visual handicap. For some time, I've been using UltraPointer, but good as it is, it is limited by being an application. This causes problems, especially with expose.
Since it's a preference pane, Mouse Locator is a step beyond, and is amazingly useful as well. I like all the pointers available on their website, and the ability to create my own is a nice touch.
If you have trouble finding your mouse, this is the utility you need. -
"Perfect!"
Version: Mouse Locator 1.0

I've actually sent feedback into Apple in the past, asking for something exactly like this. I've got quite a lot of screen, and its a little annoyance to wiggle it to try and find where it is, but these annoyances all add up.
Also, this little app is great for people who are new to computers (like a 60-yr-old friend of mine who's bought her first computer, and its a Mac!). She was saying that sometimes its difficult for her to find where the pointer is if she hasn't used it in a while. Perfect.
Thank you, you have answered my requests were Apple have failed me!
