From Miraplacid :

Miraplacid Text Driver extracts text from any printable documents. After installation on your PC, Miraplacid Text Driver appears as a new printer in your system. All the documents you print to this "printer" will be processed by the Miraplacid Text Driver. All the text from the documents will be extracted and saved to files on your hard drive. When document is printed, Miraplacid Text Driver opens a dialog with Preview Window. You can save results images to disk, upload to FTP or HTTP server,or print them to a real printer You can save the extracted information as plain, or formatted text. Besides, you can save it as XML for future processing.

Version 4.2 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

What's new in this version:

Version 4.2 works faster. It does not use any temporary files and utilizes optimized text processing algorithms.
"Document name" parameter has been added to FTP and HTTP transport settings.
Object model is updateded and extended, with more accurate error handling and rich error information provided.
Trial version of MTD 4.2 does not show a registration message box until the end of trial period when used in autosave mode.
New "Formatted Text" rendering ... see all new features
