From chUmbaLum sOft :MilkShape 3D is a low-polygon modeler initially designed for Half-Life. During development, many file formats were added. MilkShape 3D has all the basic operations such as select, move, rotate, scale, extrude, turn edge, and subdivide. MilkShape 3D also allows low-level editing with the vertex and face tool. Primitives such as spheres, boxes, and cylinders are also available. MilkShape 3D also has skeletal animation capabilities. This allows you to export to morph target animation such as the ones in the Quake model formats or to export to skeletal animations such as Half-Life or Genesis3d. MilkShape 3D currently supports 49 different file formats from 28 different games/engines/programs.
Version 1.7.8 features Alias FBX support, The Sims 2 support, updated SDK, new plane primitive, new cylinder options support for internal weighted vertices and a lot of bugfixes since 1.7.5.

"Great low polygon modeller which imports and export almost every 3D format"
Pros: Imports almost very model type
Can do most things you need for low polygon modelling such as texturing, animations
Is 100x cheaper than 3D studio
Is continuously under development so gets better every version that comes out. It is not opensource so has a degree of professionalism that you dont see in some opensource 3D modelling tools
Cons: On an intuitive scale i'd give it 5 out 10. I've used 3D modelling tools that are a lot less intuitive (eg blender) though there are others that are better (eg 3D studio)
Doesnt have all the features of 3D studio

"Using this for making Automata mods for SimCity 4."
Pros: Easy to get start working, but still a lot to learn.
Cons: Haven't figur out how texturize a model the way I want it to.
