Slow-connection users often switch off images to speed up page download, but that can mean surfing without navigation. Miliki Dial-Up Accelerator claims to find a compromise, stripping out a predetermined amount of colors and pixels to reduce image size. You can easily turn acceleration on or off from an Internet Explorer panel. A sample picture shows the effects of the four degrees of quality/speed trade-off. Miliki can be used with your browser and with mail clients. In our testing, the reduction made files 1.5 to 2 times smaller. Note that the maximum acceleration setting blurs images considerably, and that surfing speed depends on more factors than image compression. Although the tool is effective, it would be more so if it tweaked other Internet settings.Publisher's description
From QuikCAT Technologies :Send and receive e-mail with attachments up to 14 times faster. Browse the Web up to six times faster. Give your modem a major boost. Miliki Dial-Up Accelerator works with all types of modem connectivity (including wireline, wireless and satellite) and modem speeds (14.4K, 28.8K, 56K and ISDN). No new hardware is required and the product works anywhere in the world. All you need is Internet access. It integrates seamlessly into your browser. You can adjust the settings to make it even faster. Internet traffic is accelerated both from and to your PC. In general, this is an install-it-and-forget-it program that functions silently in the background.

Version: Miliki Dial-Up Accelerator 3.52.0709
Pros: Free trial period.
Cons: I have a Win98 system and I use a Internet Service to connect to the internet. This program did not work for me. At 3.48mb of data sitting on my disk, it should have done something!
I used Norton Ghost to rebuild my computer
and downloaded "Enigma Browser" from this
website.
What a dramatic change in surfing the
internet. Try "Enigma" browser if you have
dialup internet service provider and
Windows 98.
Works for me...

Version: Miliki Dial-Up Accelerator 3.52.0709
Pros: I NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE STRAIGHT AWAY! I have a wireless Vodafone card (Australia). Its transfer speed is dialup using GPRS, therefore, I wanted to greatly increase my browsing speed from being groan.. so sloooow. I browsed a few of the other accelerators and checked out the reviews and by chance I found this program. I was skeptical at first when looking at this program whether it would work or be just another dud piece of software, Id read other reviews and people complained of "accelerator" programs not working and no differences in speed or improvements of as little as 4-5% or single figures which at the end of the day arent worth looking at. When I downloaded this program I noticed a MARKED IMPROVEMENT IN BROWSING SPEED - The program makers claimed x6 times .. I cant give a figure so far but yes, its A LOT, LOT FASTER! I also use Opera Version 8 and tuneup utilities 2004 and other programs to keep my system running well at optimimum speed but THIS PROGRAM IS WORTH TESTING OUT if you have a slow internet connection, wireless card (with connection speed of dialup kb/sec). At this stage Im looking at buying this piece of software.. I'll give the 7 day trial a go but SO FAR, SO GOOD. Im happy and have recommended it to another friend to try as well.
GRAPHICS QUALITY: Some reviews said the graphicsquality is reduced. This aspect did not worry me, my graphics quality was turned down before getting this program. Im after speed not pretty pictures.
Very simple program also, no complex interfaces etc. easy to install and running well.
VERY SATISFIED. THANKYOU.
Cons: No cons so far, still testing it to see if program clashes with any of my other software programs ..Trial period should be longer PLEASE. On the registration page or running program theres no link to the software company where I can register/buy this program. I had to do a separate google search to find the makers ..(ok thats a minor issue).

Summary: Had it for the 7 day trial and while I did notice browsing was a little faster, the poor quality of the pictures wasn't enough to justify the speed increase. After uninstalling, all pictures are STILL of poor quality! I can't reinstall to change q... read more >>

"Doesn't allow to Install fully or Uninstall fully."
Summary: Has severe problems, many errors, unable to contact support, all the links they give doesn't work. All you end up with is a software that doesn't install fully, and you cannot uninstall it. Everytime you start the computer, you end up with an Error.... read more >>
