Publisher's description
From Chris Brady :Memtest86 is a thorough, standalone memory test for x86 architecture computers. BIOS-based memory tests are a quick, cursory check and often miss many of the failures that are detected by Memtest86.

Version: Memtest86 3.2
Pros: Easy enough to format and create a disc.
Cons: After rebooting, the program ran a series of five numbers, but there was no report or program forthcoming. I let it run for over an hour, but it kept recycling through the numbers. I even created a second disk in case the first was bad--no luck. I would appreciate any suggestions, but this did not work for me.

Version: Memtest86 3.2
"good enough while keeping necessary simplicity"
Pros: the zip has auto boot disk creator and instructions on how to install using linux and lilo. While running, provides different options and a description of what's being done at the moment to test.
It appears to have the option of testing just part of the memory.
Cons: could have a better interface, and maybe some game or trivia to spend time while testing... no cons!
